What is the best free browser extension for Amazon price alerts? Im trying to get my hands on a few bigger LEGO sets and a Breville espresso machine for my new place in Seattle but honestly the price swings on Amazon are driving me insane. One day its $450 and the next its $520 and I really dont want to pull the trigger at the wrong time since I'm on a pretty tight budget after paying my security deposit and everything.

Ive been looking at a few options but I cant decide which one is actually the most reliable without being super annoying or selling all my data.

  • CamelCamelCamel (The Camelizer): Everyone seems to mention this one first and the interface looks pretty straightforward but I heard it misses some lightning deals or something?
  • Keepa: This one looks like it has way more data but the charts are kinda overwhelming to look at when I'm just on my laptop. Is it worth the learning curve if I just want a simple ping when the price drops?
  • Honey: I already have this for coupons but I dont know if their price tracking is actually as good as the dedicated ones.

I really just need something that works in Chrome and wont lag my browser out while I'm working. Does anyone have a preference between Keepa and Camel for just basic notification stuff or is there something else I'm missing...

I love the data granularity on Keepa! It saved me so much on my last workstation build.

  • Go with Keepa.
  • You cant go wrong. The analytics are fantastic!

> honestly the price swings on Amazon are driving me insane. To add to the point above: honestly I am dealing with the exact same thing right now. Just moved into a new spot and watching those espresso machine prices bounce around is actually stressful lol. I've been super happy with how my kitchen setup is coming together and most of my gear works well, but trying to time the market on a Breville is a whole different beast. As someone who usually loves digging into technical specs and data granularity, even I find the constant manual checking to be a bit much. You should definitely just search for this on YouTube tho. I saw a super detailed deep dive a few weeks ago that compared the ping latency and data scraping accuracy for all the major extensions. Just search like best amazon price alert comparison and it should pop right up. Reddit has a few massive threads on it too if you just google reddit amazon price tracker 2024. Way easier to just read through those than have us ramble on about it.

Regarding what #3 said about "honestly the price swings on Amazon are..." - honestly it is so stressful. I am always super cautious about what I install because some of these extensions are basically spyware and I dont want my data leaked. Tbh when I was looking for my own kitchen gear, I just spent some time on Reddit and YouTube looking at the latest threads. There is a really detailed video by a tech reviewer that compares the lag and privacy of Keepa vs CamelCamelCamel... just search for best amazon price alert extension comparison on YouTube and it is like the first result. It breaks down the data security stuff way better than I can. Id definitely check that out before putting anything on your browser. Especially if you are worried about your data being sold. It is way safer to see a live demo of how they handle your info first... just my two cents tho.

Building on the earlier suggestion about Keepas granularity, Ive tried many trackers over the years and the technical trade-offs are pretty clear. Camel is basically the legacy choice for casual users, but if youre chasing high-ticket items like a Breville or expensive LEGO sets, you need more frequent scraping intervals.

  • Keepa: tracks Warehouse deals and Buy Box history which is huge for saving on open-box gear
  • Camelizer: cleaner UI but slower refresh cycles on price pings
  • Cart to link: excellent for consolidating alerts across different stores without the browser lag Honestly, if youre on a tight budget after that security deposit, the price history for Used
  • Like New on Keepa is where the real savings are... just watch the Buy Box metric to see when Amazon is getting aggressive with their own inventory. It helps to see if they are matching a competitor or just clearing stock.
