Hey! Looking for a solid car mount rec for my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I drive a 2021 Honda Civic. Wireless charging would be a plus. What's the best option you've found?

I totally agree with the safety concerns mentioned earlier, especially with how heavy the 14 Pro Max is. In my own testing, these big phones tend to stress the mount way more than people realize when you're hitting bumps at highway speeds. Honestly, if you want something that has been through the ringer for real-world use, you should just look at the Belkin range. They basically design their stuff in collaboration with Apple so the magnets are always spec'd correctly for the weight. One thing I've noticed is that thermal performance is actually a huge bottleneck. If you get a cheap mount that does wireless charging, the phone gets so hot that it basically stops charging anyway, right? I'd stick with a brand like Belkin because they seem to handle the heat dissipation better during long drives. Just grab any of their MagSafe compatible mounts and you should be good. Its better to pay a bit more than to have your expensive phone flying off the dash because the magnets werent tested for a heavy Pro Max model.

TL;DR: Since the 14 Pro Max is pretty heavy, you should figure out if you're comfortable with a DIY install or want something simpler. I totally agree with the focus on safety. I'm always super cautious about my phone falling because it's so big and heavy, and I don't want to damage the dash in my Civic. Since I’m still pretty new to car mods and stuff, I usually look for self-service options that don't require tools, but sometimes those feel a bit flimsy. Are you planning to do the installation yourself, or are you looking for something more "professional" that might stay put better? Also, are you looking to keep it under a certain price point? Anyway, just curious what your level of comfort is with potentially messing with the car trim or if you just want something that sticks on.

Ngl these new phones are just way too heavy. Thought I had a good setup but unfortunately the 14 Pro Max is basically a brick. Had issues with every single thing I tried.

  • Honestly my dash looks like a cat scratched it now because the mount slipped one time when I hit a pothole. Performance was definitely not as good as expected.
  • Tried to glue a piece of the vent back once and it was a total disaster because I have zero DIY skills. Speaking of disasters, I remember when I took my Civic on a road trip to the coast last summer and forgot to pack any snacks. Ended up eating some questionable gas station sushi. I was sick for like three days in a tiny motel with no AC and only one channel on the TV. It was way worse than a broken phone mount tbh. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.

I've used a ProClip mount for years. Rock solid. Around $70, custom fit.

Consider Peak Design! Their magnetic mount uses N52 magnets; holding power is fantastic!

Forget fancy wireless. A basic ProClip mount ($30) is rock-solid and safer, honestly.

Forget wireless – a ProClip mount ($70) is rock-solid. Safety is worth it, had issues with cheaper options.
