I've used Mous and Otterbox for years but this 16 Pro Max design has me stressed because the capture button cutout seems like a huge structural weak point. I'm heading to Utah for a climbing trip on Friday and need something that actually survives a drop onto rocks. What cases are genuinely rugged enough for this thing?

Honestly, I totally get the stress about that new capture button cutout. I used to swear by Mous for years but my last experience was honestly a huge letdown. Most cases this year feel kinda flimsy there, which is super disappointing for a pro device. Its definitely more bulk than a Mous but at least it wont snap in half if it hits a rock... ngl the current state of rugged cases is a bit of a mess.

I actually fumbled my phone off a bouldering wall onto some rock last month. It survived without a scratch. The dual-layer design and impact foam really absorb shock, and its way cheaper than those boutique brands. The frame is thick enough that the button wont hit the ground first even with that cutout.
