Just got my pre-order in for the 16 Pro Max in desert titanium and honestly im so hyped to finally upgrade from my old 12. Im planning this big trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon next month so I really need to get my gear sorted out before I leave. Since the phone is basically a brick size-wise I'm worried about things just sliding off the back while I'm hiking or driving.
I did some digging online and saw people swearing by the Anker MagGo power banks because of the fast charging but then I read some reddit threads saying the magnets on those can be a bit weak if you use a thicker case which is a dealbreaker for me since I'll be outdoors and I also looked at those Peak Design cases because the ecosystem looks cool but man they are pricey and idk if it's overkill for just one trip or if the magnets even play nice with other brands since they have that square mounting thing too.
My budget is around 150-200 bucks for a solid setup. I definitely need:
The problem is everything on Amazon has like 4.5 stars and half the reviews look fake or for older models and I dont want to buy a bunch of junk that wont stick to the new phone because its so heavy. What are you guys actually using on the 16 Pro Max that stays put when you're moving around?
Like someone mentioned, magnet strength is vital. Im so happy with my Spigen OneTap MagFit Magnetic Car Mount because the vent hook design kept my phone steady through every Utah washboard road tho.
@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly the case choice is massive because the 16 Pro Max is such a tank... you need magnets that can actually fight gravity. Magnets are key. Spend a lot of time outdoors? These are the only things that actually stay stuck in my experience.
Ive tested dozens of MagSafe setups over the years and that Pro Max weight really changes things when youre off-roading. Before I drop some recs, are you planning to use a heavy-duty rugged case or a slim one? Also, do you prefer the car mount on the vent or the dash? TL;DR: Pro Max models need much higher magnetic pull force than standard versions to stay secure.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
