so I finally did it and ordered the iphone 16 pro max and honestly im kinda terrified because ive been using this ancient iphone 11 for like five years now and the battery is basically a joke i have to charge it like three times a day just to get through work. anyway i keep seeing this word magsafe everywhere and tbh i have no idea what it actually does like is it just magnets? i want to make sure i dont break this expensive new phone because the camera looks huge and i really want to take better photos of my garden and stuff without it being all blurry like my old one. im a total newbie with this stuff so sorry if this is a dumb question but what are the best things to buy for it? i saw these wallet things and chargers that just stick to the back but do they actually stay on or am i gonna lose my credit cards if i put it in my pocket? my budget is pretty open since i saved up forever for the phone but i dont want to buy junk. do i need a special case for the magnets to work or can i just use any case? i just want it to be easy to charge and maybe help me hold it since the 16 pro max is so big compared to my old one... what are the must have accessories you guys actually use?

So funny you ask this — last summer I was out in the backyard trying to get these macro shots of my peonies (which, by the way, the 16 Pro Max camera is going to blow your mind compared to an 11) and I almost dropped the thing because it’s just so... hefty. I realized right then that I couldn't live without a solid grip, so I grabbed the PopSockets PopGrip for MagSafe and it’s been a total lifesaver for one-handed photos. It just snaps right on the back because of those magnets you mentioned — wait, no — I mean, it snaps onto a MagSafe case. Definitely don't try to use a regular non-magnetic case or the connection will be super weak and it'll just slide off. I personally use the Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe because it's grippy and the magnets are perfectly aligned. Regarding the wallet situation, I had the same fear about losing my cards in my pocket, but I've been using the ESR Magnetic Wallet with HaloLock and it’s got a death grip on the phone; it even has a little loop so you can prop the phone up to watch videos. For charging, since you're coming from that battery-drained iPhone 11, you'll love just dropping it onto something like the Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station (Foldable 3-in-1) at night. No more fumbling with cables in the dark. Just make sure whatever you buy says "MagSafe" on the box and you’re golden!

I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week. I think you need a specific MagSafe-compatible case for the accessories to hold securely. Standard cases are usually too thick for the magnets to work well. I've heard the wallets are safe in pockets, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Magnetic grips also help with the phone size. TL;DR: Buy a MagSafe case so accessories stick properly.

Late to the party but oh man this is EXACTLY my thing i have tried everything. ngl if you want stuff that actually sticks and doesnt feel cheap just go with Anker for charging. you seriously cant go wrong with their lineup. for cases Nomad is the way to go tbh. just get any of their magsafe cases and everything will stay SECURE on that huge phone...
