Upgrading from my old iPhone 11 because the battery is shot. I just got the 17e for the smaller size but I'm totally lost with the charging. I need something fast under $50. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I don't know how the magnets work. Which MagSafe chargers work best with the 17e?

Rarely post but saw this and had to chime in. The iPhone 17e uses the Qi2 standard, which is identical to MagSafe. You need a charger that specifically supports 15W output to avoid slow speeds.

  • Apple MagSafe Charger costs $39. It is the baseline for compatibility. It requires a 20W USB-C power adapter which is usually sold separately.
  • Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad Qi2 is $21.99. This is the most efficient third-party option. It provides the full 15W speed and has better thermal management than the official Apple puck.
  • ESR MagSafe Charger with Kickstand sells for $19.99. It features a fold-out stand which is useful for the 17e's StandBy mode. The magnetic pull is rated at 1,200g, which is stronger than the Apple version. The magnets automatically align the charging coils. If the alignment is off by even a few millimeters, charging speed drops and heat increases. Heat is what kills your battery over time. To stay under your $50 budget while ensuring maximum speed, combine the ESR or Anker pad with a Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W. This setup guarantees the 15W peak rate. Standard Qi chargers without the MagSafe or Qi2 branding will limit you to 7.5W, which takes twice as long to charge.
