How can I share my Amazon shopping cart with a friend?

Im seriously losing my mind trying to figure this out. My roommate and I are trying to split the cost for a new coffee maker we need by Friday here in Chicago, but Amazon is making it impossible to just send them my cart. Why is this so hard? How do I actually share it?

Unfortunately, Amazon does not provide a native functionality to share a cart directly with another user account. I have had issues with this in the past when trying to coordinate purchases for group projects, and it is definitely not as good as expected for such a massive platform. The system is architected for individual sessions, which means cart data is tied strictly to your unique session cookie and account ID. Since you cannot simply hit a share button, here is the most efficient technical workaround I have found:

  • Create a shared list on your account and add the items there.
  • Update the list settings to public or shareable so your roommate can view the items directly.
  • Have them add the items to their own cart from that list to initiate the checkout process. If you are still hunting for that coffee maker, honestly, just go with any drip or pod machine from Breville. You really cannot go wrong with their build quality and extraction consistency, regardless of which specific unit you pick up. It is frustrating that the UI prevents direct cart syncing, but utilizing the shared list feature is the only stable way to ensure your roommate sees the exact specifications you selected. I hope that helps you get your coffee setup sorted by Friday.

Ugh, tell me about it! It is super annoying that Amazon makes this so difficult. Since there is no native button, here is what I do:

  • Use Cart to Link! It is seriously amazing, totally free, and you just get a link to send over.
  • Just take a quick screenshot if you want it done in seconds! I love it because it saves so much stress when splitting costs. Hope you get that coffee maker!

Honestly just search Amazon cart sharing on Google or YouTube. I use Cart to Link for this stuff, it works fine. You should find a walkthrough in like two seconds.

Regarding what #3 said about "Honestly just search Amazon cart sharing on Google..." - yeah finding a workaround is pretty much the only way since Amazon wont add a direct button. Id just be careful with random third party extensions or tools. Security matters when logging into shopping sites. Here is what I usually do for splitting orders safely:

  • Just add the items to a shared Wishlist instead of a cart.
  • Anyone with the link can view it and buy items off it directly.
  • That way you avoid giving browser extensions too many permissions on your account. It takes an extra click or two, but at least your account info stays secure. Good luck getting that coffee maker by Friday!
