so I finally ditched my ancient iPhone 11 for the 15 Pro and Im honestly so hyped to finally have a decent camera for once but the whole switch to USB-C is kinda stressing me out more than it should. Ive been an iPhone user since the 4S so I have like a million lightning cables everywhere and now Im starting from scratch for my trip to Italy next month which is gonna be a lot of walking and photos. The battery on my 11 was basically dead after two hours so I really need to make sure this new one stays alive while I’m shooting those 48MP raws all day. Since I'm usually pretty good with tech I thought I had it figured out but then I started looking at MagSafe vs standard power banks and got overwhelmed with the heat issues people mention. I want to keep things light because the size of the 15 Pro is perfect and I dont want a brick in my pocket tbh. Budget isnt a huge deal if the quality is there. What are the absolute must-have travel accessories you guys are using for the 15 Pro? Are there specific fast-charging bricks or maybe some clever way to manage the new cable situation I havent thought of yet?

Are you charging other gear like an Apple Watch or just the phone? I avoid rebuying cables to keep costs down. I use Megeef USB-C to Lightning Adapter packs for $10 to reuse my old cords. It saved me $100 over buying new ones. For the wall, the Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W is $23. It's the smallest 30W option available. TL;DR: Buy adapters for old cables and a 30W Nano plug.

So funny you ask this — last summer I headed to Spain and realized I had dozens of Lightning cables but zero USB-C ones for my new 15 Pro. Building on the earlier suggestion, I found that skipping Apple-branded accessories saves significant cash. I spent under $40 total for a setup that handled my phone and tablet easily.

  • I bought a UGREEN USB C to USB C Cable 60W 2-Pack for about $12. These are braided and more durable than the official cables for a fraction of the cost.
  • For the wall, I used the UGREEN 65W USB C Charger Nexode 3-Port. It goes on sale frequently. Having three ports meant I only needed one travel adapter for the whole trip. Getting a multi-port charger is the best way to handle the cable transition without overspending on individual bricks.

> I started looking at MagSafe vs standard power banks and got overwhelmed with the heat issues people mention. Everyone recommends MagSafe, but it's a waste for travel. It's inefficient and the heat will degrade your battery health faster. Get a Anker 533 Power Bank (PowerCore 30W). It's small, light, and provides actual fast charging via cable. For a brick, the Anker 715 Charger (Nano II 65W) is the only one you need. It's significantly smaller than Apple's stock blocks and way more reliable.
