Hey everyone! I just finally upgraded to the iPhone 16 Plus and I am absolutely loving the screen real estate so far. I have a big three-week trip through Europe coming up next month and I want to make sure I am fully geared up to use this thing as my primary camera and map. Since it is the newer model, I am trying to figure out what accessories are actually worth the luggage space.
I am specifically looking for suggestions on a few things:
- A solid MagSafe power bank that will not overheat while I am navigating busy streets in the sun.
- A protective but slim case that does not make the Plus feel even more massive in my pocket during long walks.
- Maybe a compact tripod or grip that works well with the new Camera Control button for taking steady landscape shots?
I am a bit worried about the battery lasting through full days of 4K filming and constant GPS use, even though the Plus battery life is already pretty decent. I have also heard some people mention specialized screen protectors that cut down on glare for outdoor use. Does anyone have specific brands they swear by for long-haul travel?

If you're worried about heat, I'd grab the ESR Qi2 MagSafe Power Bank 10000mAh since Qi2 tech stays cooler than older models during long GPS sessions. If you want a camera feel, the ShiftCam SnapGrip MagSafe Camera Grip is awesome. It makes the phone feel like a real camera without the bulk of a full tripod. It is pricier than a basic stand but definitely worth it for vacation photos.

I just got back from a trip with my Plus and really learned my lesson about thermal management. I tested two different magnetic battery brands... one was a super popular slim model and the other was a slightly thicker one designed for better heat dissipation. The slim one was basically a brick once the sun hit it; the phone got so hot while I was navigating that the charging throttled down to almost nothing. The one I switched to handled the heat way better because of its internal cooling design. Also, definitely pay attention to case materials. I compared a standard plastic case against a high-end aramid fiber one, and the fiber definitely helped with heat dissipation during long 4K recording sessions. When youre out there all day, keeping the temps down is just as important as the total mAh, honestly. My current setup prioritizes that airflow now...

Honestly, if youre doing a lot of 4K video, a 5000mAh battery might leave you hanging by dinner time. I always pack the Baseus Magnetic Power Bank 10000mAh 30W PD Fast Charging because it has enough juice to actually give that Plus a full charge while you are on the move. It is a bit heavier but worth the peace of mind. For a case that doesnt add bulk, the ESR Classic Hybrid Case with Stash Stand (HaloLock) is a solid choice. The kickstand is built right into the camera ring so it stays flush in your pocket but helps for group photos. For steady shots, the Ulanzi MT-08 Extendable Desktop Tripod and Handle is super light for travel. It works as a handheld grip and a tripod, making it much easier to use that new Camera Control button for landscape shots. Have a killer trip!
