stumbled on this thread and figured id weigh in based on my own testing. i spent way too much time measuring thermals and output on my 11 pro max last year. honestly, most people ignore the technical specs and just buy whatever looks cool, but there are some real safety things to watch for.

  • avoid anything that doesnt have active heat management. wireless charging is inefficient by nature, and that wasted energy turns into heat which degrades your battery health fast.
  • check the coil alignment. the 11 pro max has a huge footprint, and if the charger coil doesnt line up perfectly with the phone coil, you get massive induction loss.
  • watch out for chargers that claim 15w for iphone. unless its a certified magsafe module, youll be stuck at 7.5w anyway because of how apple locks down the qi handshake.
  • dont use thick rugged cases while charging. it forces the induction field to work harder, increasing the temperature significantly. ive seen my battery health drop 4% in two months just by using a cheap no-name pad that ran way too hot. basically, if the phone feels hot to the touch when you pick it up, something is wrong with the efficiency...
