Hey all, looking for a solid car mount rec for my iPhone 13 Pro Max. So many options! I'm driving a 2015 Honda Civic. Ideally, something that's super sturdy and won't drop my phone on bumpy roads. What's everyone using and liking these days? Budget's around $40.
Good to know!
Did this last week, worked perfectly
> you really need a mount that can handle the 240g weight of the Pro Max without sagging or losing suction. I actually went the DIY route because suction cups always fail on that textured Civic dash eventually. I ended up using a LISEN Magnetic Phone Holder for Car but swapped the stock tape for some industrial 3M VHB I had in my toolbox. It is a simple ball-joint design, but the N52 magnets are legit and hold the 13 Pro Max through some pretty gnarly vibrations. I'm very satisfied with how it turned out. Total spend was under $20 plus the tape. Pro tip: if you go the adhesive route, you gotta clean the dash with isopropyl alcohol first or the bond wont hold. No sagging, no rattle, and it stays low profile. Fits well within that $40 budget too.

@Reply #14 - good point! MagSafe is basically the standard now for the 13 Pro Max since it bypasses those mechanical arms that usually rattle or fail. Since the 2015 Civic has that unique tiered dash, you really need a mount that can handle the 240g weight of the Pro Max without sagging or losing suction. I've looked at the specs for a few within your $40 budget:
Hey! I wrestled with this too. I'm using the iOttie Easy One Touch 5. It's suction-cup based, so be careful with placement on the Civic's dash – clean it well first! I've had zero drops, even on rough roads. I'd suggest the vent mount version if the dash placement gives you pause. Might want to consider a friction dash mat for added security.
Consider a magnetic mount; Scosche's MagicMount uses rare earth magnets. Sturdy, but your phone case matters!
Skip fancy brands. $20 generic vent mounts work great if you're careful with the vent clips.
DIY'ing a mount? Scosche MagicMount's strong. But, consider a pro install for max sturdiness on those Civic bumps!
Been through a few! In my experience, skip the cheapos. They fail. I've had my ProClip mount for over 5 years now. More than $40, but worth it for the reliability. Seriously, a dropped phone while driving is a huge safety risk. Check reviews for your Civic's specific mount; proper installation is key!
Prioritize safety: avoid vent mounts obstructing airbags. ProClip USA offers custom dash mounts; pricey (~$70) but securely positions your phone, minimizing distracted driving risks. Happy with mine.
Hey! Have you considered a magnetic mount? Less plastic waste! I've heard good things about Scosche MagicMount. Plus, keeping your phone secure helps avoid distractions, which saves fuel – safer and greener driving! Maybe check reviews focusing on durability? Good luck!
From my research, Scosche mounts are popular, but unfortunately, I had issues with the suction cup. ESR's HaloLock (around $30) is getting buzz for MagSafe, but reviews are mixed; not as good as expected. It's a gamble! Check recent YouTube reviews comparing brands before committing.
Arizona heat kills suction cups! Consider ProClip USA; pricey, but super solid. Worth the investment!
