Hey everyone! So, I finally took the plunge and pre-ordered the iPhone 17 Pro, and I am absolutely stoked to get my hands on it. The titanium finish looks incredible this year, but honestly, my main concern is that gorgeous new display. I’ve heard rumors that Apple has further reduced the bezel size and improved the ceramic shield, but I’m still a bit of a klutz and don't want to risk a single scratch on day one.
In the past, I’ve had some pretty frustrating experiences with screen protectors. On my old device, I bought a cheap pack of tempered glass that didn't quite reach the edges, and it ended up collecting dust in the gaps, which drove my OCD crazy! Plus, with the iPhone 17 Pro's rumored new anti-reflective coating technology, I’m really worried about using a protector that might add a bunch of glare or mess with the incredible color accuracy.
I’m specifically looking for something that is 'case-friendly' because I usually swap between a thin silicone case and a more rugged one for hiking. I’ve been looking at some of the high-end options like Spigen’s Glas.tR or maybe the Belkin UltraGlass that they sell at the Apple Store, but I’m wondering if they are actually worth the premium price tag. Another thing that’s really important to me is the installation process—I have the worst luck with alignment and always end up with those tiny, annoying air bubbles right in the middle of the screen.
Does anyone have early hands-on experience or recommendations for which brands have the best fit for the 17 Pro's specific dimensions? I’m looking for something that maintains that smooth, 'naked' screen feel while providing solid drop protection. Yo, congrats on the pre-order! Seriously, that titanium finish is sick but I totally get the anxiety about that display. I've been doing some deep dives into the specs and iirc the iPhone 17 Pro has a slightly different curvature at the edge than the 16, so old protectors definitely wont fit right. Late to the party but I went through this last year and honestly, the struggle is REAL. I'm a total klutz too so I spent way too much time researching the "why" behind the prices lol. Basically, I found that the cheaper glass usually lacks a high-end oleophobic coating, so they get all greasy and weird after like two days. I ended up trying a few different setups because I switch cases constantly too! Heres what I noticed during my journey:

Story time: I went cheap last year and it totally ruined my screen's clarity. Careful with budget glass cuz it usually kills that anti-reflective look. Definitely a waste of money tbh!!

Honestly, I'm gonna go against the grain here. Everyone is talking about which box to buy, but if you're a self-proclaimed klutz, the DIY route is always a gamble tbh. I've been doing my own installs for years and even with those fancy plastic alignment trays, one tiny speck of dust ruins the whole thing. Works great until it doesn't. Not 100% sure if they've updated the calibration for the 17 Pro's narrower bezels yet, but I think the best move might be just letting the pros at the Apple Store do the install with their specialized machine. IIRC, if you buy the glass there, they handle the application for you. If they mess it up or a bubble appears, they just swap it out right then and there. Idk, maybe it’s worth the premium just for the peace of mind? Basically, you're paying for the "insurance" of a perfect install rather than just the glass itself. Manual alignment on these new displays is getting way too stressful.
