I just picked up the new Google Pixel 8a, but since it doesn't come with a power brick in the box, I’m looking for some reliable, budget-friendly charging options. I want to make sure I’m getting the full 18W fast charging speeds without overspending on the official Google gear. I’ve been looking at brands like Anker or Ugreen, but I’m a bit confused about which specific PPS-enabled plugs and USB-C to USB-C cables offer the best value for this phone. Does anyone have a specific setup they recommend that stays under $30? I really want something durable that won't overheat. What are the best third-party chargers and cables you've found that actually work well with the 8a?

sooo i've been through this same struggle with my older Pixels over the years lol. basically, for the 8a ur gonna want a PPS charger to hit that fast speed without the heat. honestly, the official ones are overpriced tbh.

Here's what I recommend:
* Anker 313 Charger 45W USB C PPS - it's technically overkill at 45W but it's super stable and usually under $20.
* UGREEN 30W USB C Charger Nexode GaN - literally tiny and runs so cool.
* Anker 515 USB C to USB C Cable 6ft 60W - highkey durable.

Option A (Anker) vs Option B (Ugreen)? I'd go Anker for the long-term reliability i've seen, but Ugreen is cheaper. anyway, definitely get a GaN plug so it doesnt overheat ur phone!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option before just grabbing the cheapest PPS brick you find. While brands like Anker are cool, I'm super cautious about heat management and long-term battery health for the Pixel 8a. I've seen way too many "budget" setups degrade batteries because the voltage regulation is sketchy.

Honestly, if you want something that's actually reliable without breaking the bank, I reallyyy recommend the Belkin BoostCharge 25W USB-C Wall Charger with PPS. Belkin is like the gold standard for safety certifications and it handles PPS way more consistently than some of the newer budget brands imo. Pair that with a Belkin BoostCharge USB-C to USB-C Cable 1m and you're golden. It’s basically a "set it and forget it" situation where you dont have to worry about your phone getting fried. Plus, it usually stays right around that $25-30 mark for the combo. Just my two cents, but safety first always!! gl with the new phone!

honestly im kinda wary about some of the bigger budget brands mentioned here because they dont always have the specific certifications i look for when i do my deep dives into specs. i spend way too much time reading tech teardowns lol... you really wanna be careful with heat management on the 8a. instead of just grabbing any pps brick i would suggest looking for something usb-if certified because that means it actually meets the strict safety standards. i switched over to the Nekteck 45W USB C Wall Charger with PPS and its been a total tank for me. its super affordable but feels way safer than some of the flimsy stuff that gets recommended. for the cable make sure to get something matching like the Nekteck USB-C to USB-C Cable 100W 3.3ft since its also certified. i know 45w is way more than the 18w the 8a pulls but it actually runs way cooler when its not being pushed to its absolute max limit... basically the extra headroom is like an insurance policy for your battery so it doesnt get stressed. let me know if you want help looking up the certification database stuff... its kinda a rabbit hole but totally worth it to keep your phone safe!

For your situation, I've actually had amazing results with the Spigen ArcStation Pro 27W USB C Wall Charger! It's super compact and lowkey perfect for Pixels cuz it supports PPS 3.0, so ur 8a will definitely hit those fast 18W speeds without getting crazy hot... honestly Spigen gear is sooo durable.

I mean, if ur looking for a solid value setup under $30, try this combo:

* **Charger:** Spigen ArcStation Pro 27W GaN Wall Charger - Usually around $15-18 and it's tiny!!
* **Cable:** Anker 333 USB-C to USB-C Cable 6ft 100W - These are basically indestructible and the 6ft length is a lifesaver when ur phone is charging far from the bed lol.

I've used this exact setup for months and it's been fantastic! Plus the GaN tech keeps it way cooler than those cheap generic bricks. Good luck with the new phone!!

so basically the big thing is PPS (Programmable Power Supply). i didnt know this at first and bought a cheap brick that got super hot... was kinda scary tbh. i think Ugreen has some solid options that are way cheaper than Google's stuff. just make sure the cable is rated for at least 60W so it lasts. not 100% sure on the exact model but look for their 25W or 30W plugs, they're usually a steal!!

I've found that sticking to brands like Baseus or even some of the older Samsung stuff has worked well for me. I'm always pretty satisfied when a charger doesn't make my phone feel like a hot potato since I'm honestly terrified of battery damage. I'm so cautious about it because I once had an old laptop battery swell up so much it cracked the trackpad. I didn't even notice until I tried to click on something and the whole thing was slanted... it was honestly super stressful trying to figure out how to dispose of it safely. I ended up driving like forty minutes to a special recycling center because I was convinced it was gonna blow up in my trunk lol. Anyway sorry kinda went off topic there but those bigger brands are definitely worth the few extra bucks for the peace of mind.
