Recommendations for fast chargers for the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL?

Man I just finally bit the bullet and pre-ordered the Pixel 10 Pro XL and I am freaking pumped to get it in hand. Ive been a die hard Pixel user since the 2 XL days so I know my way around Power Delivery and PPS protocols pretty well but honestly this new one is throwing me for a loop with the reported charging speeds. I have a whole drawer full of older 18W and 30W bricks from Anker and Google but I really want to take full advantage of the supposedly faster wired charging on the 10 series. I think I read somewhere it can pull way more than the 30W limit of the previous gen so my old stuff is gonna be a bottleneck. I'm looking to spend maybe $50 or $60 tops for a solid brick and maybe a new cable that won't melt or something lol. I mostly need this for my home office setup here in Chicago because I'm constantly on video calls and the battery just drains so fast during the day. Does anyone have specific brand recommendations that definitely support the highest PPS stage for the 10 Pro XL? I dont want to buy the official Google one if there is something better or more versatile out there...

Unfortunately, my experience with high-speed third-party chargers has been somewhat disappointing due to inconsistent power delivery. I have had issues with bricks that don't regulate heat properly, which is concerning for battery longevity, tbh.

Congrats on the pre-order! I have been chasing the perfect Pixel charging setup since the OG days, and honestly, the move to 45W for the 10 series is long overdue. In my experience, if you want to hit those max speeds without the brick getting scorching hot, you really need something with solid PPS support. Over the years I have tried a dozen brands and these are the ones I keep coming back to for reliability:

  • Anker 713 Charger Nano II 45W is my top pick for a single port. Its tiny, way smaller than the Google brick, and handles those specific PPS stages perfectly.
  • UGREEN Nexode 65W GaN Wall Charger 3-Port if you want more versatility for your office. I use this one to juice up my phone and my buds simultaneously without the wattage dropping too low. Dont forget a high-quality cable like the Anker 515 USB-C to USB-C Cable 5A 100W to make sure you arent bottlenecked by the wire itself. If you need help picking a desk dock too, I can definitely show you what I use.

In my experience over the years, hitting those max speeds on Pixels is less about the wattage on the box and more about the specific PPS profiles. I've tried many different setups and I usually check out sites like ChargerLab or those deep-dive technical subreddits before I buy anything now because they do full oscilloscope testing. It's wild how much data you can find if you look for it. You mentioned being in Chicago though, and honestly, the heat management in the summer here is a killer for charging speeds. I'm over in Lincoln Square and my home office gets so much sun that I actually had to buy a specialized fan just to keep my desk from melting. Speaking of melting, have you seen the state of the CTA lately? I took the Brown Line last week and it was a total disaster, just standing there for twenty minutes waiting for a train that wasn't packed like a sardine can. It makes me miss when the city actually ran on time... anyway lol sorry I went off on a total tangent there.

Honestly I've been really happy with how my setup handles the heat lately since I stopped taking risks with cheap hardware. Bargain bin stuff really isnt worth the risk of damaging a brand new Pixel 10 Pro XL. After seeing a cable end get slightly discolored once, being cautious became my main priority. It basically comes down to safety over speed.

  • Stay away from those unbranded cables you find at checkouts or random online shops.
  • Focus on gear that lists safety certifications or specific heat protection tech.
  • A thicker 5A rated cable is a must for these higher speeds so it doesnt get warm. Everything in my office stays remarkably cool now even when I'm on Zoom for hours. No complaints here as long as the hardware feels solid and comes from a name I actually recognize. Just avoid the super cheap imports and you'll be fine, honestly.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL uses a 45W charging profile. Your 30W bricks will bottleneck. The Anker 313 Charger Ace 45W is the most efficient choice because it supports the 5A PPS stage. ngl it is more compact than the Google version and usually costs around $25. Pair it with a Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable 100W. You need a 5A rated cable to actually hit 45W speeds. lowkey I use this for my home office and it does not get hot during video calls. tbh spending more than $50 is unnecessary. This setup is reliable and stays within your budget.
