Best protective case and screen protector for Pixel 9 Pro XL?

My Pixel 9 Pro XL just arrived, and I’m terrified of scratching that massive screen! I need a slim, rugged case—ideally with MagSafe—and a glass screen protector that won’t mess up the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. What specific brands or combos are you guys using to keep yours safe?

+1 to what was said earlier. I've had such a wierd time trying to find stuff that doesnt ruin the sensor! I tried a cheap brand and it was a total disaster. For safety, check out the amFilm OneTouch Tempered Glass for Pixel 9 Pro XL—it’s super thin (0.26mm i think?) so it works with the ultrasonic tech. Also, the dbrand Grip Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL is SO grippy and has MagSafe. gl!!

yo, for your situation, I’ve been looking at the specs for weeks cuz I just got mine too and I’m terrified of dropping it. honestly, you gotta be CAREFUL with the screen protector thickness or the sensor might act up... basically, the ultrasonic tech is kinda picky.

Here's what I recommend:
Spigen Tough Armor (MagFit) Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Mous Limitless 5.0 MagSafe Compatible Case for Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Spigen is cheaper and has a kickstand, but the Mous is way slimmer and lowkey more rugged with that AiroShock tech.
• For the screen, I’d suggest the amFilm OneTouch Glass Screen Protector for Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. It actually works with the sensor iirc.

I guess just make sure to re-scan ur prints after install. it might feel a bit different at first but it works fine. gl!

Just catching up on this thread! Similar situation here—I've been testing protectors on ultrasonic sensors since they first dropped, and ngl, it's been a journey. I've wasted sooo much money on thick glass that turned my phone into a brick cuz the sensor couldn't read through the adhesive. Basically, you need a thin LOCA (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive) layer to maintain that technical precision.

Here is what I'm rocking on my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL right now:
* Whitestone Dome Glass Screen Protector for Pixel 9 Pro XL - It uses UV curing; technically the best way to ensure the sensor works 100% of the time.
* Torras Magnetic Guardian for Pixel 9 Pro XL - Super slim but has reallyyy strong MagSafe magnets for my stuff.

Honestly, the UV glass installation is kinda scary at first, but it's amazinggg for screen clarity. GL with the new phone! 👍

Ok so I totally agree that the sensor is the biggest hurdle here because even the best glass can fail if the install isnt perfect and I have definitely messed up a few expensive installs in my time lol. Tbh if you are going the DIY route you really have to be careful with the environment or you are just throwing money away.

  • Do the install in a bathroom after running a hot shower for a few minutes because the steam pulls the dust out of the air so you dont get those annoying tiny bubbles.
  • Make sure to toggle on the screen protector mode in the display settings before you start and then re-register your fingerprints twice once the glass is actually on. I ended up going with the Ringke Onyx Magnetic Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL and it feels really solid without being a heavy brick plus the magnets are actually strong enough for my car mount. Just be patient with the alignment because if it is even a tiny bit off it can mess with the case edges and lift the protector which is basically a nightmare to fix (at least thats what happened to my last phone).
