I just picked up the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and I’m blown away by the screens, but I’m struggling to find gear that actually fits. Since it’s wider and heavier than a standard phone when unfolded, my old spring-loaded tripod mount feels way too flimsy and tight. I’m also really interested in adding some high-quality lens attachments, specifically for macro or wide-angle shots, but the camera bump layout is a bit unique. Does anyone know of a sturdy tripod mount that won't pinch the inner screen? Also, are there any lens kits that are confirmed to work with the Fold's specific camera housing? I'd love to hear what you guys are using!
sooo, the thing with these foldables is the uneven weight distribution when they're open. Basically, most standard mounts exert way too much pressure on the frame edges, which is highkey risky for that inner panel. I would suggest looking for a manual screw-clamp mount instead of a spring-loaded one so you can control the grip. For a solid budget-friendly fix, check out the Ulanzi ST-02S Aluminum Phone Tripod Mount. It's usually only like $12-$15 and because it’s solid metal with a manual thumb screw, you won't have to worry about it snapping or crushing ur screen. Plus, it has a cold shoe on top for a light or mic. Regarding lenses, the camera bump height is the real killer for alignment. TBH, I've found that the Apexel APL-HB100MM Professional Macro Lens actually works pretty well. It's around $30 and the clip is deep enough to clear most bumps. Just be careful to line it up exactly with the primary sensor. gl!!
Quick question—are you using a case? I’m SUPER worried about that inner screen pressure! • What's your budget?
• Shooting unfolded? Just be careful and maybe try Neewer Smartphone Tripod Mount Adapter ($12)?
Oh man, I totally feel u on this. In my experience, finding gear for these foldables is a total nightmare at first. I’ve been messing around with these types of phones for years now and the accessory struggle is seriously real. Honestly, when I first started out, I actually snapped a cheap plastic mount cuz the tension was just way too much for the wide frame... lesson learned the hard way lol. u definitely dont wanna risk that with a phone this expensive! For your situation, I would suggest staying far away from anything spring-loaded. Since the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is basically a small tablet when it's open, u really need something with a manual screw-tighten mechanism. I've tried many over the years, and the Ulanzi ST-29 Universal Tablet and Phone Tripod Mount is basically the only thing I trust now. It opens wide enough for the Fold's unfolded width and the padding is soft enough that it wont pinch the inner screen edges. As for lenses, that camera bump is highkey tricky. Most generic clip-ons just wont sit flush. Tbh, Moment is usually the way to go. I’d look into the Moment M-Series Universal Lens Mount since it's adjustable enough to clear that unique housing. If u want those crisp macro shots, the Moment 10x Macro Lens - M-Series is literally the gold standard iirc. The main lesson I've learned is that with foldables, u gotta treat 'em like a hybrid device. If the mount says it fits a "large phone," it's probably too small. Look for "small tablet" gear instead and youll be much happier. anyway, hope that helps u out!! gl with the new setup peace
1. Agree with #2; screw-clamps are lowkey safer for the screen.
2. I actually used a cheap generic tablet mount... it worked great and was way cheaper than 'pro' gear!
