Hey everyone! I just picked up the new Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and while I’m absolutely loving the massive screen, I’m having some trouble finding the right wireless charging setup. I’ve noticed that because of its unique dimensions and the way the hinge sits, my old upright wireless stand from my previous phone just doesn't seem to align correctly with the charging coils.
I’m really looking for something that can actually hit the maximum wireless speeds supported by the Fold. I know Google’s foldables sometimes have specific requirements to get the best performance, and I’d love to avoid the 'slow charging' notification if possible. I’ve been looking at the Pixel Stand 2, but I’ve read conflicting reports about how well the Fold fits on it when it’s folded shut. Plus, I’m a bit worried about heat buildup during longer charging sessions, so something with decent ventilation would be a huge plus.
Has anyone found a high-quality EPP-certified charger or a specific stand that works perfectly with the Fold’s alignment? I’m hoping to find something reliable for my desk that doesn't require me to spend five minutes wiggling the phone around to find the sweet spot. What are you guys using to keep your Pixel 9 Pro Fold topped up wirelessly?
Curious about one thing: what case r u using?? Coz honestly, sticking a Sinjimoru Universal Magnetic Plate on it makes alignment issues disappear for way less cash. It’s amazing!!
This^ Also wanted to add that magnetic cases help safety. A: INIU 15W Fast Wireless Charging Pad ($15) vs B: cheap generics. The INIU has temp protection so it wont toast your Fold, whereas generics get scary hot. Best choice for budget/safety... it's EPP-certified and works well with a mag case for alignment. Satisfied with mine. 👍
Yo! I totally feel u on the alignment struggle. Honestly, when I first got my Fold, I tried using my old stand and it just blinked red lol. I was about to drop $80 on the Google Pixel Stand (2nd Gen), but since the Fold actually caps at lower wireless speeds than the regular Pro models anyway, I figured why bother?
Basically, the Fold's coil is positioned lower than standard phones. I found that cheap multi-coil stands actually work better cuz they catch the signal regardless of the hinge height. Here is what I recommend for a budget setup:
* Anker 313 Wireless Charger (Stand) - Usually like $16. It is super reliable and the ledge fits the Fold's base perfectly without it sliding off.
* INIU Wireless Charger 15W Fast Charging Station - Got mine for $18. The dual-coil setup makes finding the sweet spot effortless, and it stays pretty cool.
So yeah, dont overspend on proprietary tech when a $20 EPP stand does the job. Just make sure it has decent ventilation and ur golden! peace.
Yeah, the magnetic case thing is a total game changer for alignment. I was hitting that 'slow charging' wall constantly until I tried a little DIY fix on my old setup to save some cash. Since the coil is so low, I basically modded my existing stand instead of tossing it:
- Glued a small plastic spacer to the bottom lip
- Lifts the phone maybe 12mm or so?
- Makes the coils line up perfectly even with the hinge in the way Honestly, it’s a bit of a janky solution but it works SO well and I didn't have to wait for shipping on a new charger.
Honestly, I've been through a ton of chargers with my older foldables and it’s always a bit of a gamble. You mentioned heat being a concern and that’s a huge deal for me too since heat just ruins battery health over time. Are you mostly looking for something to keep on your desk while you work where you can see the screen, or is this just for a bedside table where speed doesn't matter as much? Also, whats the budget like? I find that the cheaper ones tend to run way hotter and that always sketches me out a bit. It’s definitely tricky with the coil being so low on these units...
Works great for me
+1 to what was said earlier! Ngl, the alignment is a total nightmare cuz the charging coil is actually positioned way lower than ur typical phone. I tried a generic flat pad instead of a stand:
* It fixes the alignment issue immediately
* But heat buildup is still pretty bad
I mean, even with the pad, it’s still not as fast as I’d hoped... super frustrating tho. Good luck!
