I finally pulled the trigger on the Pixel 9 Pro XL and I am so hyped for this camera bump design honestly its so sleek. Ive been scouring Reddit and some YouTube reviews for the best protection cause I am definitely a dropper and I live in the PNW where things get slippery fast with all the rain. I saw the Spigen Tough Armor is like the gold standard for protection but then I read a few comments saying the kickstand feels flimsy this year and the case makes the phone feel like a literal brick in your pocket so I am kind of torn. Then I was looking at the Bellroy leather ones because they look amazing but people keep saying the edges peel after like two months which is a huge bummer for a fifty dollar case. My logic was to get something that shows off the hazel color but actually saves the screen if it hits the pavement while Im out hiking next weekend.

I basically narrowed it down to these but I am stuck:

  • Spigen (cheap but bulky)
  • Mous (expensive but people swear by them)
  • Bellroy (stylish but durability issues?)

I need something that isnt gonna add five pounds to my bag but actually works. Should I go with the Mous or is there something better that I havent seen yet... I really dont want to crack this screen immediately.

TL;DR: Spigen Ultra Hybrid for Pixel 9 Pro XL Crystal Clear is very reliable. I fumbled mine onto wet concrete yesterday; not a scratch. Way cheaper than Mous and shows the color well.

I would suggest being careful with the leather ones if you are out in the PNW rain. They get pretty gross fast. You might want to consider the Mous Limitless 5.0 Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Aramid Fibre instead. It is pricey. Honestly tho, mine has survived some nasty pavement drops. Just make sure to check the side grip cause it can be a bit smooth...

Been thinking about your grip issue since I saw this earlier. Honestly, in my experience, paying fifty bucks for a case is usually just paying for marketing. I've spent years looking at TPU densities and corner impact data... most premium brands use the same materials as the mid-range stuff. I know you wanna see that Hazel color, but clear cases are notoriously slippery in the rain. Since you're in the PNW, you need mechanical friction. I've been using the Caseology Athlex for Pixel 9 Pro XL Active Black Dual Layer and the texture is basically like fine sandpaper. It's way cheaper than Mous. Another reliability pick is Ringke Onyx for Pixel 9 Pro XL Matte Graphite Grip. It has textured sides and a matte finish that doesnt get slick when wet. I dropped my last phone on a rocky trail with the Ringke and it didnt even scuff the frame. Save your cash for a better charging brick instead.
