Hey everyone! I just picked up the new Pixel 9 in Obsidian, and while I absolutely love the hardware design, I’m already getting nervous about how much of a fingerprint magnet the glass back is. I’ve decided to go with a dbrand skin to add some protection and personality, but I’m honestly overwhelmed by the amount of choices on their site right now.
I’m looking for something that adds a bit of much-needed grip without making the phone feel bulky. I’ve been eyeing the 'Leather' series for that premium feel, but I’m also really curious about the 'X-Ray' or 'Teardown' skins because they look so unique on the new camera bar design. One thing I’m stuck on is whether to skin the camera visor or leave it exposed—I can’t decide if a contrasting look or a full-wrap look is better for the Pixel 9's specific shape.
Has anyone here already put a skin on their 9? I’d love to know which textures feel the best in the hand and which designs actually complement the phone’s rounded corners. For those who have tried them, which dbrand skin do you think looks the most aesthetic on the Pixel 9?
Any updates on this?
Honestly, the dbrand Pixel 9 X-Ray Skin is highkey the best value. Teardown is cool but $25+ is steep for a sticker... I mean, it looks sick but basically pays for the brand. I'd definitely skip the camera skin tho, it makes it look way too bulky and it's kinda hard to line up perfectly.
Just sharing my experience: I went through this with my last Pixel. I'm huge on safety, and honestly, the glass back is *so* risky. I tried the dbrand Pixel 9 Swarm Skin because the texture is super grippy, which saved me from a few drops! Tbh, I always leave the camera visor exposed. Skinning it felt like it might trap heat or mess with the sensors.
TL;DR: Swarm adds the best grip/safety. Skip the visor skin to keep the hardware safe! 👍
Ok so I actually just put the dbrand Pixel 9 Leather Skin in Tan on mine last week! Honestly it's a game changer for the grip since the glass is sooo slippery. I was kinda worried about the fit around the camera, but I went with the full-wrap look and it feels really premium. I might want to suggest the dbrand Pixel 9 X-Ray Skin too if you want that technical vibe, but for me, leather is basically the way to go!
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
tbh I am dealing with the exact same thing right now. The Obsidian finish is a total nightmare for fingerprints and unfortunately the glass is so slick it feels unsafe to hold without a death grip. I had issues with some of the smoother skins on my old phones because they actually made the device feel more slippery once they got a bit of hand oil on them, which was super disappointing for the price. I have been looking at a couple of specific ones that focus more on performance and safety rather than just the look:
Did this last week, worked perfectly
Big if true
