Hey everyone! I recently managed to lose the original stylus for my Moto G Stylus 5G while I was out, and the phone just feels incomplete without it. Iβve been looking at some options online, but Iβm worried about finding one that actually fits perfectly back into the built-in storage slot. I really rely on the fine tip for taking quick notes and the palm rejection for sketching, so Iβm hesitant to buy a generic capacitive one that might be too bulky. Has anyone found a reliable third-party replacement that maintains that same precision, or is it better to just bite the bullet and buy the official OEM version from Motorola? What are you guys using?
oh man, I feel u... losing that stylus is literally the worst because the phone feels so naked without it, right? I've actually gone through this twice now cuz I'm kinda clumsy lol.
In my experience, here is what I've found:
1. Honestly, just stick with Motorola official replacements. I tried a few cheap ones from random brands on Amazon and they were total junk. They didn't click into the slot properly and one even got stuck!!
2. If you want a third-party one, go with a reputable brand like BoxWave or something similar you find on big retail sites. You basically just want to make sure it's marketed specifically for the "5G" version specifically cuz the dimensions are different between years.
3. Highkey, nothing beats the OEM feel for that fine-tip precision you mentioned.
tbh, I'd just bite the bullet and get the official one from the Moto site or a trusted seller. It's worth it to keep the palm rejection working right. Good luck!!
Quick question before I give adviceβdo you have the 2021, 2022, or 2023 version of the phone?? I ask because the stylus shape actually changed between years, and getting the wrong one is a total headache cuz it wont fit the slot!
I literally just went through this cuz I am broke and didnt want to pay full price lol. I found the Motorola+Moto+G+Stylus+5G+2022+Replacement+Stylus&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 Replacement Stylus on eBay for like $12, which is sooo much better than the $30 Motorola+charges&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola charges. Honestly, the official ones are the only way to go if you want that fine tip and palm rejection. I tried a generic Universal Mesh Tip Capacitive Stylus but it was basically like drawing with a crayon... so frustrating!! If you can find an OEM pull on Amazon or eBay for cheap, it is DEFINATELY worth it for the precision. Just gotta make sure the model year matches! 👍
Story time: I actually went through this last year. In my experience, I tried a generic one from an electronics shop and it totally lacked the *precision* needed for sketching, plus it got stuck in the slot! Basically, sticking with the official Motorola+parts+is+the+only+wa&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola parts is the only way to keep that fine tip and palm rejection working perfectly, right?
Honestly, I've seen way too many people ruin their charging ports or get generic styluses stuck in the chassis, so I'm coming at this from a safety-first perspective. If you care about your hardware, you *really* gotta be careful with third-party clones because the fitment is often off by just a fraction of a millimeter.
I mean, I had issues with a cheap knockoff that actually scratched the internal housing of my old phone... not as good as expected, to say the least! For your situation, I'd suggest only looking at reputable sellers like Motorola+Moto+G+Stylus+5G+Replacement+Stylus&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Official Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G Replacement Stylus or specifically the BoxWave AccuPoint Active Stylus if you're okay with something that doesn't slide into the slot. But seriously, stick to the OEM version for that built-in storage. Just make sure you match it to your specific year (2021 vs 2022 vs 2023) because they are NOT interchangeable. Better safe than sorry, right? gl!

Re: "Interested in this too" - honestly, it is the most frustrating thing ever. I have been using these for years and the way the slot loses its grip over time is just... ugh. You pull your phone out and the stylus is just gone. Again. Its like a part of my brain goes missing every time it happens. Truly drives me crazy how easy they are to lose. You really gotta be careful with the fitment tho. I would suggest double checking the exact year of your model because the 2022 and 2023 styluses look almost identical but the 2023 Motorola+Moto+G+Stylus+5G+2023+Replacement+Stylus&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 Replacement Stylus has a different taper. If you try to jam the wrong year in there, you might actually break the internal sensor that tells the phone the pen is docked. I've seen it happen and it basically ruins the whole point of having the stylus features. Basically, my tip is to always test the click before you push it flush. If it feels even a little bit tight or wonky, just stop. Better to have a loose pen than a broken internal spring. Also, maybe look for a Motorola+Moto+G+Stylus+5G+2022+Replacement+Stylus&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 Replacement Stylus specifically if you have the older chassis, dont just trust the generic listings.
