Hey everyone! I recently picked up the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and I am absolutely blown away by the 125W charging speed. It is a total game changer for my daily routine! However, I really need a second charger to keep at my office so I do not have to lug the original power brick back and forth every day.

I am looking for a reliable fast charger that can actually handle those high speeds without overheating. I have been looking at some compact GaN chargers, but I am worried about whether they support the specific TurboPower protocol. Has anyone tried third-party brands like Anker or Ugreen with this specific model?

Do you have any specific recommendations for a charger that hits the maximum speeds for the Edge 50 Pro?

For your situation, 125W is intense so safety is highkey the priority. I'd suggest the Ugreen Nexode 140W GaN 3-Port Power Adapter paired with a Ugreen 240W USB-C to USB-C Cable for the best heat management. It’s a decent option that avoids the sketchiness of generic bricks, realy. Better safe than sorry!!

Stumbled upon this discussion today! Honestly, ur right to be cautious cuz 125W is intense. I mean, to stay safe and get the best results, here is what I suggest:

  • Motorola+TurboPower+125W+Wall+Charger+with+USB-C+to+USB-C+Cable&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola TurboPower 125W Wall Charger with USB-C to USB-C Cable: Pro: Hits max speed safely. Con: Kinda bulky.
  • Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W 3-Port Wall Charger: Pro: Amazing build and compact. Con: Likely wont reach the full 125W speed. Better safe than sorry with such high power!! gl!

Before I give advice, can you clarify what your actual budget for this second setup is? I have been thinking about your question for a few hours because hitting 125W safely on a budget is highkey tricky. Basically, the reason it is so hard to find alternatives is because of the proprietary handshake. Even if a third-party charger claims high wattage, it needs specific PPS profiles to communicate with your phone correctly. If they dont match up exactly, the phone plays it safe and charges way slower to prevent any overheating. It is a smart safety feature, but its definitely annoying if you bought a fancy brick that ends up charging like a turtle!! Honestly, I have been really satisfied with the UGREEN Nexode 140W USB C GaN Charger. It is very reliable and provides a solid balance of cost and performance for an office environment. While it might not reach that absolute peak 125W ceiling every time, it is plenty fast for topping up during meetings. Just remember to pair it with a UGREEN 240W USB C to USB C Cable or the brick wont even matter... gl!!

You really have to be careful about thermal management because pushing that much power through a small block can be risky. I would suggest checking out these brands for better reliability:

In my experience, getting that full 125W on the Edge 50 Pro with third party gear is actually pretty tough because of how Motorola handles their proprietary TurboPower handshake. I spend way too much time looking at charging curves and PPS protocols so i feel u on this. Basically, you need a charger with a really wide PPS (Programmable Power Supply) range to even get close to those speeds. I tried a few of my older GaN blocks and they definitely didnt hit the max, but they were good enough for work. Here is what I recommend for ur situation:

  • Just get another official power brick from Motorola if you absolutely need that 125W peak speed
  • Go with Anker if you want something super compact that stays cool while charging
  • Look into the high-output GaN chargers from Ugreen for a solid multi-port option
  • Basically any 100W plus PPS-compatible charger from a big brand will work fine Tbh, even the best third party chargers might not actually hit the full 125W cuz of how the tech works, but you will likely still get 68W or maybe even 100W which is still fast as hell for a desk. I actually noticed my phone stays a bit cooler with the third party GaN stuff anyway which is a nice bonus... i mean, who really needs 125W while they are sitting at a computer all day? Just make sure the cable you use is rated for 5A or it wont matter how big the brick is... i learned that the hard way lol. Anyway, most big name stuff is fine for the office.
