Hey everyone! I recently picked up the new Motorola Edge 60 Pro, and while I am absolutely loving the performance, I am a bit overwhelmed by the charging requirements. This phone supports that insane 125W TurboPower charging, but I realized I only have the one official brick that came in the box. I really need a reliable secondary setup for my office and maybe a solid travel kit so I do not have to keep unplugging everything at home.

I have been looking at some third-party GaN chargers from brands like Anker and UGREEN, but I am worried about whether they will actually hit those top speeds or if they will just default to standard slow charging. I also noticed that some of my older USB-C cables seem to get quite warm when I try to push higher wattages through them, which is a bit concerning. I am specifically looking for a high-quality cable that is at least 6 feet long because the one in the box is a bit too short for my bedside table.

Does anyone have experience using specific third-party chargers that successfully trigger the TurboPower animation? Also, are there any particular 100W or 240W rated cables you would swear by for durability? I want to make sure I am not damaging the battery long-term. What setup are you currently using to keep your Edge 60 Pro topped up?

So basically the consensus is:

Third-party blocks wont hit 125W tho!

Ok so, I literally just saw this thread and wanted to jump in because I was looking into the same thing for my setup lately. Basically, the whole 125W TurboPower thing is kinda tricky because it relies on a proprietary protocol that most general chargers dont fully support. I think I heard somewhere that Motorola+uses+a+very+specific&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola uses a very specific version of PPS, which is why even those high-end GaN chargers from brands like UGREEN or others might not trigger that specific animation your looking for. You might find this useful - check out a site called ChargerLAB. They do these really technical teardowns and testing for all kinds of charging gear. It's honestly a bit over my head sometimes since I'm still learning the ropes, but they show exactly which power profiles a brick supports. Also, there's a great resource at the official Motorola+community+forums+and&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola community forums and the r/Motorola+subreddit&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola subreddit. People there are always testing random third-party bricks to see which ones actually hit those high speeds. Not sure but I recall reading that most third-party blocks will just default to 45W or maybe 65W because they lack the exact voltage/amp handshake Moto needs for 125W. It's kinda annoying, especially when your trying to save a bit of money or find a longer cable. For the cable issue, if yours is getting warm, it's definitely a sign you need something with an E-Marker chip. I've heard that you should basically only look for cables rated for 240W nowadays to be safe, as they're built to handle way more heat and current than the older 60W ones. Anyway, hope those sites help you find a decent combo!

In my experience, third-party blocks like Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W unfortunately wont hit 125W. Stick with the official Motorola+125W+TurboPower+Wall+Charger&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola 125W TurboPower Wall Charger and Anker 765 USB-C to USB-C Cable 240W 6ft tbh.

Just found this thread today. I have been experimenting with my own DIY charging station for the Edge 60 Pro and I am very satisfied with the stability I have achieved. My goal was to build a reliable secondary spot without compromising the battery lifespan, and honestly, the technical side of it is pretty fascinating once you dig in. There are some major pitfalls to watch out for tho:

  • Dont use cables longer than 6 feet unless you are 100% sure they have a high-quality E-Marker chip.
  • Avoid chargers that lack granular PPS support in their technical specs.
  • Never fast charge while the phone is tucked under a pillow or inside a heavy case. I personally make it a habit to check the phone temperature occasionally during those high-wattage bursts. Keeping the device cool is basically the most important thing for these custom setups. Everything works well for me and I have had zero complaints about my battery health so far.

Honestly, finding stuff that wont fry your port over time is a nightmare. Ive seen so many people ruin their batteries with cheap gear just to save a few bucks, and reliability should always come first. Speaking of heat though, it reminds me of this one summer I was driving through the desert with my old phone mounted on the dashboard. The sun was hitting it so hard that the screen actually started to dim and the GPS just completely gave up halfway to my hotel. I had to pull over and use a paper map like it was 1995 or something! I didnt even know they still sold those at gas stations. My dog was in the back just staring at me like I was a total amateur for not checking the AC before we hit the road. It was a mess. sorry kinda went off topic there

Great info, saved!

I am honestly in the exact same boat as you and it has been a source of major frustration for the last month. Even with a background in electrical specs, I cannot seem to find a third-party combo that actually matches the out-of-the-box performance.

  • I have been testing various high-wattage bricks and none of them successfully trigger the proprietary 125W TurboPower handshake.
  • It is incredibly annoying because standard Power Delivery profiles just do not seem to cut it for this specific device architecture.
  • My desk setup is still lacking a secondary high-speed option because everything I try ends up being a disappointment compared to the official charger. I am still hunting for an answer too because carrying the one brick back and forth is getting old fast.
