I finally pulled the trigger on the Razr Plus 2024 and holy crap this cover screen is actually insane. Ive been using foldables for a few years now—started with the Z Flip 3 then moved to the last Razr—but this one feels like a whole different beast with that edge-to-edge display on the front. Im super stoked because Im taking it on a trip to Tokyo in like three weeks and I plan on using it for a ton of street photography and vlogging, but now Im hitting a wall with the accessories.

My logic was just to grab a standard thin case like I always do, but then I started thinking about the hinge protection and how much of the front screen is exposed. If I drop this thing on a sidewalk in Shinjuku, that outer glass is toast. I looked at those rugged cases but they make the phone feel like a brick and totally ruin the aesthetic. Does anyone know a case that actually protects the hinge without being massive? Or maybe just a really good skin?

Also I'm kinda curious about the screen protectors for the outside. Since its a POLED screen, Im worried a glass protector might mess with the touch response or make the gestures feel clunky near the edges. I usually go naked with my phones but the repair costs on these flips are terrifying and I dont want to risk it while traveling.

And what are we doing for charging? I know it supports 45W wired and even has wireless charging now but my old Samsung bricks feel like theyre crawling. Im looking for a tiny GaN charger thats easy to pack for travel but actually hits the max speeds for the Moto. Ive got about 150 bucks left in my gear budget for this month so I can afford some decent stuff but I dont want to waste it on junk thats gonna yellow in two weeks. What are the absolute essentials you guys are running? I feel like I'm overthinking the screen protector thing but I'm just paranoid...

TL;DR: Prioritize safety. Id suggest Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">ZAGG Bridgetown Case for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 for hinge protection and Motorola+TurboPower+50W+Wall+Charger&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola TurboPower 50W Wall Charger for reliability. Make sure to avoid cheap protectors, they might fail.

Unfortunately, most hinge cases feel cheap and the moving parts often jam. I had issues with generic brands before. Just stick to Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OtterBox Symmetry Series Flex for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 for real safety. For power, Belkin BoostCharge Pro 45W Dual USB-C GaN Wall Charger is way more reliable than random bricks. TL;DR: Get the OtterBox case and a Belkin GaN brick. Dont trust cheap screen skins; they always peel.

Yo, congrats on the new Razr. That cover screen is definitely the star of the show. I've been through a bunch of foldables over the years, and honestly, the anxiety about that hinge is real, especially when traveling. For Tokyo, you definitely want something that isnt gonna bulk up your pocket while you're walking 20k steps a day. In my experience, the rugged cases usually end up in a junk drawer because they make the phone feel like a literal brick. If you want that sweet spot between protection and thinness:

  • Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Araree Nukin 360 for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 is basically the gold standard for thin hinge protection. Its clear so it doesnt hide the color, and it stays on without those nasty adhesives that leave gunk.
  • For the front screen, dont overthink it. A good tempered glass like the Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Supershieldz Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 works fine. It doesnt mess with the touch sensitivity in my experience, and its way better than a plastic film that scratches if you just look at it wrong.
  • For power, skip the huge bricks. I use the Anker 713 Charger Nano II 45W and its tiny. Like, smaller than a golf ball tiny. Hits the full speeds for the Moto and fits in a tech pouch easily. Tbh, since you're vlogging, maybe grab a cheap magnetic ring sticker too. Slap it on the back of the case and you can use MagSafe accessories like small tripods or those magnetic wallets. Makes street photography way easier when you can just snap it onto a handle or a small gimbal. Have a blast in Shinjuku!

Been thinking about your setup for Tokyo. Since youre doing street photography, you need gear that handles being whipped out of a pocket constantly. For cases, you basically have two routes if you want hinge coverage:

  • Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">VRS Design Terra Guard Modern for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 offers decent impact protection. It adds some width but the spring-loaded hinge cover feels solid.
  • Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Poetic Spartan for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 is a good alternative. It has a built-in kickstand which is actually really useful for vlogging when you need to prop the phone up. Regarding charging, look into the Ugreen Nexode 45W Dual USB-C GaN Charger. Its tiny and the dual ports are lifesavers in hotels with limited outlets. It hits the full 45W speed for the Razr. If youre worried about touch sensitivity, Motorola+Razr+Plus+2024&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Screen Protector for Motorola Razr Plus 2024 is usually the gold standard. The alignment tool makes it sit perfectly so gestures dont feel janky... especially around the edges.
