What tripod mounts work best for Motorola Edge video recording?

I'm looking to level up my Motorola Edge video setup, but I'm worried about the curved display and side button placement with standard mounts. I need something secure that won't trigger the Power/Volume buttons or crack the screen edges. Does anyone have a specific mount recommendation that fits this phone's unique build securely?

sooo i saw this earlier and wanted to chime in because that curved screen on the motorola+edge+is+basically+a&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">motorola edge is basically a nightmare for rigging lol. i think iirc there are some budget-friendly options that wont crush your display or hit those side buttons.

I would suggest looking for these specific features instead of the standard spring-loaded clamps:

- look for a "pro" style cold shoe mount that uses a screw-knob mechanism. it lets you control the tension perfectly so you aren't putting too much pressure on the glass edges
- try to find a mount with offset padding. i honestly find that if the rubber grips have a little cutout or are extra thick, they stay away from the power button entirely
- maybe consider a magsafe adapter sticker? you can stick it to a cheap case and then use magnetic mounts. it's basically the safest way to avoid clamps altogether tbh

anyway, hope that helps you out without breaking the bank!! peace

Honestly, after years of rigging mobile setups, prioritize safety with that screen. What kind of filming are ur plans for? Like, are u doing stationary tripod shots or more active handheld vlogging?

oh man, i feel u on this. honestly, the motorola edge is such a pain for rigging because of that 90-degree wrap-around screen. i've been shooting mobile video for years and unfortunately, most "standard" spring-loaded mounts are a nightmare for this specific build. i actually had issues with a generic metal clamp last month where the tension was concentrated right on the curved glass edge – literally thought it was gonna crack under the pressure!!

For your situation, i think i'd suggest looking into screw-tightening style mounts instead of the spring-loaded ones. not 100% sure if there's a "perfect" one, but iirc, the mounts from brands like Manfrotto or Joby that use a manual thumb screw give way more control over clamping force. with the motorola edge's button placement, you basically have to "offset" the phone so the clamp sits lower or higher than the power button. i tried a really expensive rig recently and it was honestly not as good as expected cuz the rubber padding was too thick and kept triggering the volume rocker lol.

basically, look for a mount with "offset" grips or very shallow rubber teeth. it lets the curved glass sit free while gripping the actual metal frame. it's kinda annoying that moto put the buttons right in the middle, but yeah... just avoid the cheap plastic clips cuz they'll definitely mess with ur screen or trigger the assistant every five seconds. anyway, hope that helps. gl with the vids! 👍

For your situation, I'd be super careful with those cheap plastic clamps because honestly, I've almost cracked a screen before. The Motorola+Edge+wrap-around+dis&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola Edge wrap-around display is no joke. I would suggest looking at the Ulanzi ST-27 Metal Phone Tripod Mount or even the SmallRig Universal Mobile Phone Cage 2791B.

I personally use the Ulanzi one because it's got these deep, angled grooves that let the phone sit securely without the metal ever actually touching the curved glass edges. Plus, it has a cold shoe mount for a mic! Just make sure to offset the phone slightly in the clamp so it doesn't crush the power button. It's a bit of a balancing act, but metal mounts with screw-locks are waaay safer than the spring-loaded ones that just snap shut. Better safe than sorry, you know? good luck!!

I'm still kind of a beginner with all this, but I've been REALLY nervous about my screen cracking too. Honestly, I spent way too much time looking at "clamping pressure" tests on YouTube because I’m just terrified of that glass popping. Basically, I've learned that avoiding the spring-loaded ones is a must for us. I've been looking at the PULUZ Universal Metal Phone Tripod Mount since it uses a screw to tighten, so you can be super precise without crushing the edges. My quick tip? Always do a "tilt test" over a couch or your bed first. Just like, gently tilt the tripod to see if the phone starts to slide when the clamp is only at "medium" tightness. If it moves at all, it's a no-go for me. Have you checked out the "Filmic Pro" hardware compatibility lists or their community forums? They sometimes mention which rigs handle curved screens better during high-motion filming. It's better to be safe than sorry, you know?

Stumbled upon this today and ngl i feel your pain so much. I've been dealing with the exact same thing since I got my Motorola+Edge&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola Edge... honestly it's been such a letdown trying to find a mount that doesnt feel like it's gonna crush the glass. My current setup actually slipped a few weeks back and the clamp landed right on the volume rocker, which totally killed the recording mid-session. It's super disappointing because the phone takes great video, but the physics of that wrap-around screen just make everything so difficult. I keep checking my display for cracks every time I take it out of the rig now. Its honestly exhausting being this paranoid about it but you're definitely not alone in this struggle. Hopefully we can figure out a way to make it work without risking the hardware...
