Hey everyone, I recently treated myself to the new Motorola Edge (2024), and while the phone itself is fantastic, I’m a bit stuck on the charging situation. Since it doesn’t come with a power brick in the box anymore, I’ve been using a spare 18W adapter I had lying around, but it’s painfully slow. I know this model is rated for 68W TurboPower charging, and I really want to take full advantage of those speeds, especially since I'm often in a rush in the mornings.

I’ve been browsing through options on Amazon like Anker’s 65W GaN chargers and some UGREEN blocks, but I’m confused about whether I need a specific PPS (Programmable Power Supply) rating or if any high-wattage USB-C PD charger will work. I’m also curious if third-party cables make a difference or if I should stick strictly to the official Motorola ones to avoid heat issues. My main concern is finding something reliable that actually triggers the 'TurboPower' notification on the screen without breaking the bank. Has anyone found a specific third-party charger or a particular Motorola-branded one that works perfectly for the Edge (2024)? I'd love to hear what you're using!

If you want to handle this like a pro and stop guessing why it is slow, you should do a bit of DIY diagnostics before buying more bricks. Honestly, the handshake is what matters most here.

  • Get a MakerHawk USB C Tester to see the actual voltage and amperage in real time.
  • Ensure you are using a 100W rated 5A E-Marker cable, because standard 3A cables will bottleneck the 68W TurboPower protocol. Instead of taking it for a professional service checkup, try cleaning the port with a thin plastic pick. Pocket lint often blocks the CC pins, which are critical for the communication between the phone and the brick. If those pins dont make a clean contact, the phone will default to a slow 5V safety charge. Checking the actual amperage draw with a tester is basically the only way to know for sure if youre getting the speeds you expect.

For your situation, I’ve tried many chargers over the years and tbh, Moto is kinda picky about triggering that actual 'TurboPower' notification. While the Anker 735 Charger (GaNPrime 65W) is highkey a beast, you gotta make sure the block specifically supports PPS (Programmable Power Supply) at high amps. Honestly, I've found that just grabbing the official Motorola+TurboPower+68W+Wall+Charger+with+USB-C+to+USB-C+Cable&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola TurboPower 68W Wall Charger with USB-C to USB-C Cable is the most cost-effective move. It’s usually around $35-40, which is basically what you’d pay for a good UGREEN or Anker block anyway, and it's guaranteed to hit 68W without the 'is it working?' guesswork lol. If you do go third-party, seriously, make sure you use a 5A rated cable like the UGREEN 100W USB C to USB C Cable Right Angle to handle the current. Hope that helps you get out the door faster! Are you leaning toward the official one or a third-party hub??

Quick question - are u using the original cable or just that old 18W one? I bought a UGREEN Nexode 65W USB C GaN Charger but it was so slow and didnt even show the TurboPower text... total letdown. Compared to the Motorola+68W+TurboPower+Charging+Block&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola 68W TurboPower Charging Block, third-party stuff is just unreliable for this phone. Learned the hard way that wattage isnt everything. Check ur cable first tho!! peace

Quick question - are you using a random cable? Watch out because I had issues with cheap stuff and almost fried my port... it was really scary tbh.

Watch out for generic plugs!! I had issues with slow charging and overheating... total letdown. Honestly, just get the official Motorola+brick+to+actually+hi&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola brick to actually hit those TurboPower speeds. Better safe, right??
