Must-have accessories for the OnePlus Open foldable phone?

I'm honestly so fed up with the lack of quality gear for this phone. I spent a fortune on the OnePlus Open and every case I buy from Amazon feels like cheap plastic garbage that doesnt even fit the front screen properly. The one that came in the box? Total joke. The adhesive is already peeling off and it slides around whenever I unfold the thing. I'm literally terrified of dropping it during my commute into the city because it feels so slippery. I need some real recommendations before I lose my mind and just return the phone.

  • Budget is around $120 for a couple of things
  • Needs to be slim but actually protect the hinge (why is this so hard to find?)
  • I really want a kickstand that doesnt wobble when I'm watching videos on the plane
  • A stylus that actually works for the inner screen without scratching it up

Are there any brands that actually care about foldables or am I just stuck with this flimsy setup? I really want to love this phone but the accessory situation is making me regret the switch from my old Pixel...

Honestly, I feel your pain. Finding good gear for the Open is a total nightmare and I have wasted plenty of money on junk already. I would suggest being extremely careful with those cheap Amazon cases because they usually scratch the frame more than they protect it. I have tested a few setups and these are the only ones worth the cash:

  • OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Nillkin Frosted Shield Prop for OnePlus Open is probably your best bet for a slim profile. The kickstand is actually built into the camera cover and is surprisingly sturdy for plane tray tables. It has some hinge coverage but it is not full.
  • OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Poetic Spartan Case for OnePlus Open offers way more hinge security. It has a dedicated kickstand that wont wobble, but be warned, it adds a lot of weight to the phone. For the stylus, you really should only use the Oppo+Pen+for+Find+N3&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Oppo Pen for Find N3. It is the only active pen that is safe for the inner screen digitizer. Just make sure the tip is clean before you use it or you will get micro-scratches... definitely worth the investment tho.

I'm really satisfied with this reliable combo for safety:

  • OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Spigen Tough Armor Pro for OnePlus Open for the hinge protection.
  • OPPO+Pen+for+Find+N3&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO Pen for Find N3 because it works without any screen damage.

Honestly, I've been digging through the technical specs and hinge tolerances for most of these third-party solutions and it is a total disaster area. The engineering on the OnePlus+Open+is+incredibly+p&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Open is incredibly precise, yet these case manufacturers seem to think they can just slap some 1mm TPU on there and call it a day. I have had issues with multiple brands where the hinge cover actually puts uneven pressure on the display assembly when folded, which is a massive reliability risk imo. It is not as good as expected, at all. I am genuinely worried about the long-term structural integrity of the inner panel if we keep using these bulky, ill-fitting shells. Most of them use such low-grade adhesive strips that they basically become sandpaper against the frame once dust gets trapped under the sliding parts. It is unfortunately a common problem with foldables, but the Open seems to have it worse because of that unique hinge mechanism. I am honestly terrified of a micro-fracture from a poorly designed bumper. Before looking into any more data, I need to know a couple of things tho. Are you primarily looking for something that can survive a drop on concrete during your commute, or is the focus more on keeping the hinge mechanism grit-free? Also, does the extra weight of a heavy-duty case bother you or are you okay with the bulk?
