Hey everyone! I just finally got my hands on the OnePlus Nord 4, and man, that metal unibody design is even better in person than I expected. It feels incredibly solid, but now that the 'honeymoon phase' has kicked in, I’m getting seriously paranoid about scratching the display.

It came with that standard pre-installed plastic film, but we all know those are basically just dust magnets and don't offer much in the way of drop protection. Plus, the texture just doesn't feel as smooth as actual glass. I’m looking to swap it out for a high-quality tempered glass protector, but I’m struggling to find one that check all the boxes.

Since the Nord 4 has a flat screen, I was hoping the process would be easy, but I’ve had bad luck in the past with protectors that leave a massive 'halo' gap around the edges or, even worse, ones with those thick black borders that actually cut off a few pixels of the screen. I’m also really worried about the in-display fingerprint sensor. I’ve used some glass protectors on previous phones that made the scanner super unreliable, and I definitely don't want to sacrifice that speed.

I’ve been browsing Amazon and some third-party sites, but the reviews are pretty thin right now since the phone is still relatively new. I’m also using the official OnePlus bumper case, so the protector needs to be 'case-friendly' so the edges don't get lifted up by the case lips.

Has anyone here found a tempered glass brand that fits the Nord 4 perfectly without interfering with the fingerprint scanner or the display edges? I’d love to hear what you guys are using and if there are any specific brands like Spigen, Ibywind, or even the official OnePlus ones that you’d recommend. What’s been your experience so far with screen clarity and touch sensitivity?

sooo i totally get the paranoia, i'm the same way!! honestly, i'd be pretty cautious with 3rd party glass right now, so i recommend the official OnePlus+Nord+4+Tempered+Glass+Screen+Protector&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Nord 4 Tempered Glass Screen Protector because it's the only one i trust for the sensor. it fits ur bumper case perfectly without cutting off any pixels... definitely worth the extra cash for peace of mind. gl!

Just catching up on this thread and I totally feel the struggle. Tbh I have been doing some deep dives into the current third-party market for the Nord 4 since it launched. Being a bit cautious with my tech, I actually ordered a few different sets from various vendors just to test the manufacturing tolerances and see how they stack up against industry standards. Most of what I found in the early market releases was pretty disappointing from a technical level. One set I tried had zero durability on the oleophobic coating, while another completely messed with the refractive index over the optical fingerprint sensor. Basically made the biometrics fail half the time. It is a common issue when the adhesive layer thickness is inconsistent across the glass panel. Right now, I am testing a setup I found that uses a higher grade of aluminosilicate glass. It seems to handle the edge fitment much better without that annoying halo effect or lifting from my case. Anyway, I have noticed that the market usually takes a few weeks to really dial in the precise cutouts for new panels. If ur worried about the sensor, I learned that looking for full-glue application rather than just edge adhesive makes a massive difference for the light transmission.

Honestly, if youre like me and your hands shake a bit when youre trying to line up glass, you basically need to look for brands that include those plastic alignment frames. I always do my own installs because its way cheaper than going to a professional service, but the secret is really just the installation kit they give you. I usually just stick with Spigen for all my devices because their alignment jigs make it totally foolproof. I mean, well actually, I did mess one up once because of a tiny piece of lint, but usually its a breeze compared to the old school manual way. Since the Nord 4 has a flat screen, the DIY route is super satisfying. If you go with a brand like that, you wont have to worry about the fingerprint sensor as long as you re-register your prints once the glass is on. Its basically standard practice now. Just make sure you do it in the bathroom after a hot shower to keep the dust out of the air, thats like my number one enthusiast tip for a clean install.

stumbled on this today and i totally feel that paranoia! i actually spent my whole weekend testing the optical clarity on a few different panels because i’m obsessed with maintaining that peak nits brightness and touch polling rate. ngl my first attempt was a disaster... the adhesive was way too thick and the fingerprint sensor just wouldn't register at all. i learned that you really have to look for glass with a high light transmission percentage, like 99% or better, or the sensor gets confused by the light refraction. i finally got my current setup installed using a pressurized application method i rigged up and the results are amazing! it feels just as snappy as the bare glass and the fit is perfect with my bumper case. definitely take your time with the install because getting that alignment sub-millimeter perfect makes all the difference for the edges!! keep at it, you're gonna find a winner soon!
