Hey everyone! I recently made the jump to the OnePlus Open, and man, this foldable screen is a game-changer for media consumption. However, I’m struggling to find the perfect pair of wireless earbuds to complete the setup. Since this is a premium device, I really want something that takes full advantage of the OxygenOS ecosystem while offering top-tier sound quality.

I’ve been looking at the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 because of the integrated settings and spatial audio support, but I’m also curious if third-party options like the Sony WF-1000XM5 or even the Bose QuietComfort Ultras perform just as well on this hardware. I care a lot about seamless switching between the inner and outer displays without audio lag, and strong Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is a must for my daily commute. My budget is flexible—around $200 to $300—as long as the performance is there.

For those of you rocking the Open, what has your experience been like with different brands? Do the first-party OnePlus buds offer a significant enough advantage in terms of low latency and features, or should I go for better overall sound quality with a different brand?

Ok so I went through this last year when I got my Open and honestly, I was torn too! I tried the Sony WF-1000XM5 because I'm a total sound nerd, but I lowkey missed the ecosystem features. Eventually, I switched to the OnePlus+Buds+Pro+2&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Buds Pro 2 and the LHDC codec support is literally amazing for high-res audio on this hardware. Plus, the fast pair and instant switching between the big and small screens is sooo smooth, whereas the Sony ones felt just a tiny bit slower, you know?

Honestly, I went through this last year. I tried using high-end cans but worried about lag, so I grabbed the OnePlus+Buds+Pro+2&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Buds Pro 2 for like $130 on sale. It's the safest, most budget-friendly way to get that perfect sync.

Honestly, I've used OnePlus devices for like six years and for your situation, I'd basically suggest sticking with the OnePlus brand for ur earbuds. The integration is literally seamless and you won't deal with weird audio lag when swapping screens. Sony or Bose are great too, but first-party stuff just works better for low latency imo. Plus, the ANC is actually solid enough for a commute... so yeah, go with OnePlus, you can't go wrong!

Just catching up on this thread. I've been using OnePlus phones for a decade now and I've gone through a similar journey with my Open. I actually tried to force the Sony WF-1000XM5 to work for a few months because the soundstage is just incredible, but I kept running into tiny irritations with the auto-pause and multipoint switching between my laptop and the foldable. I ended up switching to the OnePlus+Buds+Pro+3&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Buds Pro 3 recently and it really is the sweet spot. The audio quality is a lot closer to the high-end Sony buds than the previous generation was, mostly thanks to those dual drivers. Plus, the LHDC 5.0 support is native so you dont have to mess with any extra apps to get the best bitrate. If you can find them for around $150-180, its a no-brainer over the Bose or Sony options just for the sanity of having everything integrated into OxygenOS. No lag at all when I'm flipping the screen open mid-video either, which was a huge deal for me.

I've been dealing with this exact same dilemma for weeks and still haven't found a solid answer. Even as someone who has used every flagship they've put out over the years, I'm struggling to find a pair that handles the display switching without a hitch.

  • Still hunting for buds that dont lag when I move from the outer to inner screen.
  • Super frustrated that the ANC/integration combo feels hit or miss even on premium gear.
  • Honestly starting to think there just isnt a perfect performance solution for the Open yet.

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, I was in the exact same boat when I got my Open. While I totally get the temptation to splurge on those high-end audiophile brands, I'd say just stick with OnePlus+for+your+buds&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus for your buds. I've tried mixing brands before and the "tax" you pay in lost features is realy annoying.

You gotta be careful with third-party stuff cuz even if the sound is slightly better, you lose that native integration in the settings menu. Plus, first-party ones usually go on sale like crazy—I managed to snag mine for a steal during a holiday event. If you care about value, staying in the ecosystem is basically a no-brainer. It's way more practical for your daily commute and you wont have to deal with weird latency issues when swapping screens. Just get any of the Pro ones from OnePlus+and+ur+good+to+go&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus and ur good to go!!
