Just snagged the OnePlus Open and I'm obsessed, but I'm worried about keeping this foldable safe. Does anyone have recommendations for a solid hinge-protecting case or a screen protector that won't peel? Also, are there any must-have fast chargers or car mounts that fit its unique size? What are your top accessory picks for a new owner?

Curious about one thing: how much bulk are you actually okay with?? I’m still kinda new to the foldable scene myself, but I’ve been obsessed with finding the safest setup cuz I’m literally TERRIFIED of breaking mine lol. Honestly, I would suggest being super careful with those cheap thin cases. If you want REAL safety, you might want to consider the OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Spigen Tough Armor Pro Designed for OnePlus Open. It’s thick, but that hinge protection is no joke. For charging, definitely stick to the official OnePlus+SUPERVOOC+80W+GaN+Type-A+and+Type-C+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SUPERVOOC 80W GaN Type-A and Type-C Power Adapter because third-party ones can be hit or miss. I’m still looking for a car mount that doesnt feel like it’s gonna crush the screen... are you planning to mount it while it’s unfolded or closed? That makes a HUGE difference! Let me know and I can find more stuff for ya. 👍

Yeah I totally agree with the safety first approach mentioned above... but honestly, my experience with generic car mounts was a total nightmare. I tried a cheap one off Amazon and it literally dropped my Open mid-drive because the weight distribution is so weird when it is unfolded. It almost cracked the hinge. Super disappointing considering how much this thing costs. I realized pretty quick that most universal stuff just isnt built for the sheer size and heft of a foldable. If you want reliability over just saving a few bucks, here is what I ended up with after trial and error:

  • OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Nillkin CamShield Pro for OnePlus Open
  • This has a slide cover for the cameras which is huge because that lens circle is a scratch magnet.
  • Baseus 100W USB C Car Charger
  • It actually hits those fast speeds without overheating like the cheap ones I tried.
  • LISEN MagSafe Car Mount for Foldables
  • I had to add a ring to the back of my case, but it is the only thing that holds the weight. The screen protector situation is also tricky. Unfortunately, those cheap film packs you find everywhere bubble up in the crease almost immediately. It is super frustrating. I had to go for something specifically designed for high-stress folding or just stick with the factory one as long as possible... once that starts peeling it is a whole thing.

yo, congrats on the Open!! honestly its such a beast but i totally get the anxiety cuz foldables are pricey lol. in my experience, picking protection is basically a trade-off between bulk and safety. * Rugged vs Slim: go with Spigen if u want that massive hinge coverage. it adds a literal hump but highkey worth it for peace of mind. compared to official slim cases, the rugged ones actually survive drops.
* Official vs Third-party: honestly, just get any fast charger from OnePlus for the proprietary speeds, or a high-wattage Anker brick for versatility.
* Mounting: look for tablet-style clamps from any brand rather than standard phone ones cuz the Open is wide af. i'd say the rugged case is the best choice if ur worried about the hinge. and seriously... dont mess with the inner screen protector yourself or u'll regret it!! gl!

Hmm, I've had a different experience. Foldable repairs are pricey, so protection matters, but bulky cases kinda ruin the whole experience. Honestly, big brand cases are way overpriced. Quick questions tho:
* Whats your total budget?
* Do u really need the hinge covered? I’d suggest looking at generic brands instead... they work just as well for half the cost!!
