So I just got my hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus and I am honestly so confused right now. I opened up the box and there is no actual plug for the wall?? I thought maybe the store forgot to put it in but then I looked it up and apparently they just dont give them to you anymore which seems kinda crazy for how much this thing costs. Anyway I have no idea what I am doing here. I have been using my old charger from my Galaxy S10 but it takes forever to charge and the phone keeps saying something about check your connection or whatever.

I went on Amazon and there are so many different blocks and cords it is making my head spin. I see some that say 25W and some that say 45W and then there is all this talk about PD and PPS and I have literally zero clue what any of that means. I just want the one that is gonna charge it the fastest without like blowing up the battery or something. Sorry if this is a really basic question but I am a total newbie with this stuff and I dont want to break my new phone or make the battery die fast.

My budget is around 30 or 40 dollars and I am hoping to get something from a place like Best Buy since I live right near one in the suburbs of Philly and I would rather just go pick it up today than wait for shipping. I am usually running late for my shift at the hospital so I really need something that can give me a good boost in like 20 minutes while I am drinking my coffee and getting ready.

  • Do I need to buy the official Samsung one or are the other ones okay?
  • Is there a specific brand that is better for the S26 Plus?
  • Does the cable matter as much as the actual brick?

I saw an Anker one that looked cool because it was small but I wasnt sure if it works with the Samsung fast charging thing or if it will be too slow. Does anyone know which specific model I should look for that actually works for this phone...

Honestly, the charging landscape is a mess right now. Since you are near a Best Buy, I would suggest being very careful with what you pick up. For the S26 Plus, you definitely want something that supports Super Fast Charging 2.0 to get those fast speeds before your shift. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind to avoid wasting money:

  • Make sure the brick specifically mentions PPS (Programmable Power Supply). Without this, the phone wont hit top speeds even if it says 45W on the box.
  • The cable is just as important as the block. Most standard cables only handle 3A, but for 45W charging, you specifically need a 5A rated cable.
  • I personally suggest the Samsung 45W USB-C Super Fast Charging Wall Charger because it includes the correct cable in the box. Getting the official Samsung one is probably your safest bet for that budget. It guarantees you wont get those connection errors during your morning coffee.

To add to the point above: its honestly so disappointing that we have to buy these separately now. I tried some cheaper bricks and they were not as good as expected, basically just got scary hot. I'd just grab the Samsung 45W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger with 5A Cable at Best Buy. Since you're worried about the battery, this is the safest bet and wont fail you for that 20 minute boost.

Just saw this and wanted to chime in on the technical side because it can be super confusing. TL;DR: You need a brick that specifically says PPS (Programmable Power Supply) and a 5A rated cable or you wont actually hit those 45W speeds. Standard Power Delivery (PD) is fine but PPS is what lets the phone talk to the charger to ramp up the speed without frying the battery. If you are heading to Best Buy, check out the Anker 313 Charger Ace 45W PPS. It is way smaller than the Samsung brick and usually a bit cheaper. Another solid budget pick is the Insignia 45W USB-C Wall Charger with PPS. Since it is Best Buys house brand, it is usually like 25 or 30 bucks. One thing people forget is the cable. If you use a cheap $5 cable, it usually caps out at 3A (60W), but Samsung 45W charging needs a 5A cable to trigger the Super Fast Charging 2.0. If you dont have one, pick up the Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable 140W 6ft or the Insignia 5A version. For more technical deep dives, I usually check sites like GSMArena or RTINGS for their charging curves. They show that you get the most speed when the battery is under 50 percent, which is perfect for your 20 minute morning boost. Just make sure the box explicitly mentions PPS 45W or you are just wasting money.
