Which fast charger works best for the Samsung S26 Ultra?

So I finally bit the bullet and got the S26 Ultra because my old phone was literally dying every two hours. I am in London so I do a lot of commuting and really need the battery to stay alive while I am on the train but anyway I opened the box and there is no actual wall plug thingy? Just the wire. I felt so silly looking through the box twice thinking I missed it but I guess they just dont include them anymore which is kind of annoying for how much this cost.

I have no idea where to start with buying one and honestly I am a bit scared I am gonna buy the wrong one and blow up the battery or something. Sorry if this is a dumb question but like... does it matter which one I get? I was looking on Amazon and there are so many numbers. Some say 45W and some say 25W and then there are these GaN things which sounds like a typo to me or some weird science word haha. My logic was that a bigger number is probably better? Like 45 is more than 25 so it must be faster right? But then I saw a post saying some chargers can actually damage the phone if they arent the official ones. I really dont want to ruin this phone since it cost me nearly 1200 quid.

I was thinking about just getting the one from the Samsung store but it is pretty pricey and I saw an Anker one that looks smaller and easier to carry in my bag. But then does the wire matter too? The wire in the box looks kind of thin. If I buy a 45W plug do I need a special 45W wire? I am totally lost with all these specs. I have about 30 or 40 pounds left in my budget for this and I really need it by Friday before I go on a trip. If anyone can explain this like I am five years old it would be great. Is there a specific brand that everyone uses or should I just stick to the official Samsung one to be safe? I just want the fastest possible charging so I am not tethered to a wall for hours...

Welcome to the flagship life! You are gonna love that S26 Ultra, the screen is just amazing! I have been testing chargers for years and you definitely dont want to settle for 25W. Here is exactly what you need to know: 1. Get a 45W charger. It uses Super Fast Charging 2.0 which is a total lifesaver when you only have 20 minutes to charge before a commute. 2. Look for PPS support. This is the tech that lets the phone talk to the charger so it doesnt blow up! 3. GaN is fantastic because it keeps the plug tiny and cool. It is not a typo, just better tech. I personally use the Samsung 45W Power Adapter with 5A Cable because it comes with the thick cable you need for those speeds. If you prefer Anker, the Anker 713 Charger Nano II 45W is incredible but you must pair it with a high-wattage cable like the Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable 100W to actually hit those top speeds. Enjoy the new phone!

Honestly it is so annoying how they charge over a grand for a phone and then leave out the most basic part. I had the same issue and spent way too much trying to find a setup that actually worked at full speed. Unfortunately, a lot of what you see on Amazon is just marketing fluff and wont actually hit the top speeds. To stay within your 40 pound budget and get it by Friday, here is what I would do:

  • Get the UGREEN Nexode 45W GaN Charger 2-Port. I shifted to this after my official one felt way too bulky for commuting. It uses GaN tech (which basically means it stays cool and tiny) and it supports the PPS protocol samsung needs for Super Fast Charging 2.0.
  • You really need a better cable. The one in the box is unfortunately only rated for 3A, so it caps you at 25W regardless of the plug. Grab a UGREEN 100W USB C to USB C Cable 5A. It is much thicker and actually lets the full 45W through.
  • If you really want to stick to the brand, the Samsung 45W Power Adapter T4510 is usually on sale at Argos or Amazon for around 30 quid. It is reliable but the brick is kinda huge compared to the modern GaN ones. Dont worry about blowing it up... the phone and charger talk to each other to make sure only the right amount of power goes in. Just make sure the box says PPS on it. You can definitely get both the plug and the 5A cable for under 35 quid total if you check for vouchers on the product pages.

Unfortunately, the wire samsung includes is kinda trash and didnt hit top speeds in my testing. Check ChargerLABs database for PPS curves so you dont waste money like I did initially.

Just saw this and honestly went through the same panic when I got mine last month. I tried using an old brick I found in a kitchen drawer and the phone took like three hours to charge and got really warm... it totally freaked me out because I didnt want to fry my expensive new toy or ruin the battery long-term. You definitely gotta be careful with the random stuff because some of it feels like a fire hazard. A few things I learned the hard way:

  • make sure the cable clicks in really tight or it wont fast charge
  • be careful with those super cheap multi-packs you see on sale
  • check if the plug part gets too hot to touch while its working Since you are commuting around London, are you looking for something super tiny that fits in a jacket pocket, or do you need something with multiple ports so you can charge your headphones at the same time? Also, do you need to be able to pick it up from a physical shop before your trip or is ordering online fine?
