Just got the S26 Plus and I'm terrified of scratching this screen but I keep hearing the fingerprint sensor is super picky this year. I looked at the Whitestone Dome because people say it's the gold standard but it looks way too complicated to install and it's like 50 bucks which is way over my budget of maybe $25. I saw some Spigen ones online too but reviews are mixed about whether you have to press really hard. I'm usually out hiking around Oregon so I need something durable but easy to put on.

  • Under $25
  • Tempered glass if possible
  • Works with the ultrasonic sensor every time

Anyone found a brand that doesnt mess up the biometrics?

> Anyone found a brand that doesnt mess up the biometrics? Honestly, you gotta be careful with those ultrasonic sensors. I'd suggest Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Tempered Glass 2-Pack for S26 Plus since the alignment tray makes it pretty foolproof. Might want to consider amFilm OneTouch Tempered Glass for Galaxy S26 Plus too. Both are under $25. Just make sure to reregister your fingerprints after installing or it'll act up... trust me.

Been down this road too many times with my previous phones, especially since im constantly out in the woods and dropping my device on rocks. I finally landed on the ESR Armorite Screen Protector for Galaxy S26 Plus and honestly, its been a total lifesaver. I was really worried about the fingerprint sensor too cuz these ultrasonic ones are such a headache. But after the install, which was super simple with their little alignment frame thingy, I just reregistered my thumbs and it works every single time. My buddy actually convinced me to try this brand after he dropped his phone on a gravel trail and the protector shattered but the screen stayed mint. For less than 20 bucks, you get two of them which is great for the budget. Its weirdly satisfying how smooth the glass feels, almost like there isnt even a protector on there. Just make sure you turn on the touch sensitivity setting in the display menu... thats the real secret sauce for making the sensor snappy. I havent had a single press harder error since I switched, so it definitely gives me peace of mind when im out trekking. Tbh I wouldnt trust those super thin plastic films, glass just feels safer when you are actually using your phone in the real world. Just take your time with the dust stickers and you will be fine.

Quick reply while im on my break. Look, that ultrasonic sensor is basically a tiny sonar. Thick glass often blocks those sound waves, so you really have to be careful with cheap brands. If you dont want to spend Whitestone money, I would suggest looking at Milomdoi 3+3 Pack Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Galaxy S26 Plus. It is well under your $25 limit and they usually include a alignment frame. Checking the XDA Developers forums is a smart move before buying because those guys are super thorough with testing biometrics on new models. Make sure you toggle on the touch sensitivity setting in your display options too. Also, pro tip: re-register your fingerprints AFTER the glass is on, and do the same thumb twice at different angles. It helps the sensor recognize the ridges through the extra layer.
