sorry if this is a dumb question but I have no idea where to start. my aunt in Chicago is buying my birthday stuff next week since im totally broke but I dont know how to show her what I picked.

  • budget is around $60
  • needs to be my specific items
  • she has to be the one to pay

is there a way to just send her my whole cart or do i have to do it another way?

unfortunately, amazon still hasn't built a direct way to just zip your cart over to someone else, which is super annoying. i had issues trying to find a workaround for this last holiday season and it definitely wasnt as smooth as i hoped it would be. basically, the session data and browser cookies dont transfer between separate accounts so you gotta jump through a few hoops...

  • create a wish list instead of using the cart
  • move your specific items over to that list
  • hit the share button and send that link to her
  • she can add them to her own cart from there just stick with a standard list from amazon and you should be fine, ngl. i tried some third party apps for this before but they were honestly trash and didnt sync the prices right. staying inside the official site is the way to go.

Saw this earlier but just now getting back. I've been the go-to tech person for my family for years, and sending carts is always a headache. One thing I will warn you about: be careful with third-party sellers on your list. I once sent a list to my sister and since I didnt enable the third-party shipping agreement in the settings, she couldnt even see my address for half the items. It was super frustrating for both of us. I would suggest doing a dedicated wishlist for that $60 budget instead of a cart transfer. To make it smooth:

  • Go to your lists and create a new one called Birthday.
  • Click on More and then Manage List to set your shipping address ahead of time.
  • Make sure you check the box that allows Amazon to share your address with sellers so she doesnt have to ask you for it.
  • Send her the View Only link so she doesnt accidentally delete stuff while browsing. Just a heads up, prices on Amazon fluctuate like crazy. If you pick stuff today, it might be $65 tomorrow and then youre over her budget. I always add a few $5-10 items as backups just in case something goes out of stock or the price jumps. Also, for anyone shopping with friends or doing a gift list, Cart to Link is worth trying.

Just catching up on these replies. @Reply #4 - good point! Wishlists are definitely hit or miss. To summarize what everyone is saying... we have suggestions for wishlists, third-party extensions, and some big warnings about shipping address glitches with those third-party sellers. Honestly, be careful with these workarounds. I had a nightmare once trying to coordinate a birthday gift for my dad. I picked out some specific tools on a different hardware site that actually had a share button and it was seamless, but trying to do the same on Amazon was a mess. Half the items I picked for him were from different sellers and because I didnt check the shipping agreement box, he couldnt even ship them to me without calling me for my zip code every five minutes. It was super frustrating and basically ruined the surprise factor. Couple things you might want to consider:

  • make sure to toggle that shipping address sharing setting if you use a list
  • double check the prices havent jumped before she hits buy since they fluctuate like crazy
  • be careful with those third-party sellers like #3 mentioned because they have different rules I would suggest sending the wishlist but also maybe just sending a quick screenshot of your cart as a backup. It is the only way to be 100% sure she sees the exact total and version you picked out. Amazon is kinda behind on this compared to other brands that just let you link a cart directly.

Stumbled upon this and just had to jump in because I love finding better ways to do this stuff! I actually disagree that wishlists are the way to go tho. They are so clunky and often hide the exact item version you want. Regarding what #3 said about "Saw this earlier but just now getting back...." and those third-party shipping headaches, that is exactly why wishlists fail so often! It is super frustrating when things just dont show up right on the other end. My quick tip is to use a dedicated cart sharer instead of the built-in Amazon lists. It is absolutely fantastic because it generates one single link that adds everything to her cart in one click! So much more reliable for making sure she sees the exact items you picked without the metadata mess... plus it saves so much time for people who arent tech savvy. I've been using Cart to Link to share Amazon carts with family, makes gift planning way easier

coming back to this, I had issues with sync tools and they werent as good as expected.

  • try Share-A-Cart for technical transfers
  • use wishlists for specific metadata
