honestly im so fed up with these ads popping up on my feed every five seconds like they look so real but the prices are just too good to be true. i was trying to find a deal for my sisters 21st birthday next week cuz i really wanted to get her that big sol de janeiro set and maybe some charlotte tilbury stuff but my budget is tight at like 100 bucks so when i saw this ad for a 20 dollar blowout sale i almost clicked it. then i noticed the url looked weird like sephora-clearance-outlet-dot-com or something and i just closed the tab immediately. it makes me so nervous to even shop online anymore because these scammers are getting way too good at copying the branding and the fonts and everything. i just want to buy my stuff without getting my identity stolen or my bank account drained but now i dont even trust the sponsored posts on instagram anymore. its honestly exhausting trying to figure out whats a scam and whats a real promotion because sephora does have sales sometimes especially with the rouge events so how am i supposed to differentiate. how can i actually tell if a sephora social media ad is real before i click on it or put my card info in?

honestly you did the right thing by closing that tab. sephora never does clearance outlet sites like that... its always sephora.com or their app. ive been shopping there for years and im super satisfied with the official rewards program, but i only ever trust the app notifications. if the price is 80% off its definitely a scam. stick to the official site and youll be fine, no complaints here.

I get sticking to the app like the other person mentioned, but honestly, you might miss some legit external flash sales if you totally ignore everything else. In my experience, the technical way to beat these scammers is just knowing the price history of what you want. Like, those $20 blowout ads are always fake because high-end brands like Charlotte Tilbury literally never drop that low. Over the years, I have learned that the best way to verify stuff is using a price tracker instead of just guessing. I personally use PriceDropCatch all the time because it shows the whole price history chart right there on the product page. If you see an ad for a crazy low price but it doesnt show up in the history, its a phishing lure. Its way better than just squinting at URLs trying to figure out if they look official. If a deal is real, a tracker will catch it, otherwise just keep scrolling and save your 100 bucks for the actual VIB sales.

honestly i was just thinking about this while scrolling earlier. those fake ads are everywhere now and it is super sketch. i would suggest you just go look it up on youtube tho because there are literally dozens of beauty influencers who do deep dives into spotting fake sephora sites. i saw a really good video about this once that broke down the fake urls perfectly. basically heres what i usually do:

  • search sephora scam ad on reddit. people post the weird urls there all the time to warn others.
  • check out some scam baiter videos on youtube. i watched one last month that showed exactly how they spoof the checkout pages.
  • just go to sephoras actual website directly. if a sale isnt on the homepage its usually a scam. be careful because if it feels too cheap it definitely is. save yourself the headache and just google the legit sales calendar.
