Which MagSafe chargers work best with the iPhone 17e model?

I'm finally ditching my ancient iPhone XR (the battery is literally dying every 4 hours now lol) and getting the 17e, but I'm honestly so stressed about the charging. I've never used MagSafe before. I did some googling and saw people talking about 'Qi2' and 'Certified MagSafe'—is there a difference? I don't want to accidentally fry my new battery or buy something that's super slow. My logic was to just buy the Apple one, but then I read some third-party ones are actually better for the smaller size of the 17e? I'm just worried about getting the wrong thing. Oh, and does the brick that goes into the wall matter too? I'm so lost...

Look, I’ve spent twenty-five years in a shop where if you don't follow the torque specs, things blow up—so listen, don’t overthink this charging thing. It’s like picking an alternator; you either get the one built for the load or you’re left stranded. People get all twisted about 'Qi2' versus 'Certified MagSafe' but really—wait, no—I mean, they’re basically the same standard now (the Qi2 is just the open version of Apple's tech), so just look for the 15W rating. If you buy a cheap knockoff from a gas station, you’re just asking for heat issues that'll cook that new battery—no different than running an engine with no coolant. Here is what you need for that 17e:

  • The wall brick is the fuel pump. Get the Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter or a 30W equivalent. Anything less is just trying to fill a tank with a straw.
  • For the charger, the Apple MagSafe Charger with 1m Cable is the standard OEM part. It works fine but the cord is a bit thin for my liking.
  • I prefer the Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Qi2 15W myself. The housing is solid—feels like it can actually take a drop or two without cracking.
  • Or look at the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 with MagSafe 15W if you want it to stay put on the nightstand. Listen, just make sure the box says 'Qi2' or 'MFi'. If it doesn’t have those specs, it’s just a magnet glued to a slow coil. Stick to the parts list.

Like someone mentioned, ngl the Apple tax is real—I lowkey just use Anker MagGo Wireless Charger (Pad) because it’s Qi2 and cheaper—wait, no—I mean just get a 20W brick too.

ngl apple prices are a total SCAM... i saved a ton using Anker 313 Charger 30W USB-C over the $40 apple one... tbh i gotta know:

  • do you have usb-c bricks?
  • car or desk?
