just got an iphone 15 for my birthday and im totally lost on what else i need to get before my big trip this saturday. i only have about 50 dollars left to spend though.
what kind of stuff is actually mandatory so i dont break it? sorry if this is a stupid question...
Re: "Building on the earlier suggestion, grab a GaN..." - those chargers are awesome but honestly for a trip you really need backup power. I learned that the hard way when I was navigating a new city last year and my phone almost died right as I was trying to find my hotel. I felt so lost lol. I ended up picking up the Anker 321 MagGo Battery 5000mAh Magnetic Wireless and I'm super satisfied with it. It just snaps to the back and keeps you going while youre out sightseeing so you dont have to hunt for a wall plug. No complaints at all, it's pretty small too. Since you have a bit of cash left, maybe check out the Anker 333 USB-C to USB-C Cable 6ft 100W because hotel outlets are always in the weirdest spots. Having that extra length is so much better than the tiny cord the phone comes with. You can definitely get both for under 50 bucks.
Building on the earlier suggestion, grab a GaN brick too.
TL;DR: Im in the same boat and honestly it is super frustrating. I still havent found anything that feels reliable enough for my trip. @Reply #1 - good point! But unfortunately, i am dealing with the exact same situation and im pretty disappointed with the options out there. I have been methodically researching this for about three weeks now and honestly, i dont think those basic budget setups really address the safety concerns of a long trip. It feels like every time i look for a solution, i just find more reasons to be worried about reliability. I am also stuck with a very limited budget and a brand new phone, and it is honestly exhausting trying to figure out what is actually mandatory versus just hype. I still havent found a clear answer... been stuck in this loop for way too long now.
I dropped my last phone on jagged concrete once, but it survived thanks to a solid TPU setup. Honestly, Im very satisfied with how these budget options perform under stress.
