im thinking about finally upgrading to the iphone 17 pro next year because my current phone is literally falling apart and the battery is trash. i keep hearing everyone talk about magsafe but i am so confused by all the options out there. i have no idea where to even start or if i need a specific brand. i only have about $60 to spend on accessories right now so i dont want to waste it on something that isnt gonna work right or might get too hot.
sorry if this is a dumb question but are some chargers better than others for the new models? do i need to look for a specific wattage or something so it actually charges fast?
tbh it is kinda confusing at first but you dont need to spend a fortune. Since you are on a budget, look for the Qi2 label. It is basically the same tech as Apples official stuff but usually way cheaper and works perfectly with the newer iPhones. Heres what I usually tell people to look for:
Re: "tbh that qi2 advice is spot on. just..." unfortunately even with the right labels, a lot of these magnetic pads are pretty disappointing. Ive gone through a few that claim 15W speeds but then throttle down to nothing because they get way too hot. Its a massive waste of money when your phone is barely charged by morning because of heat management issues. I tried the Apple MagSafe Charger 1m Cable and was honestly let down. The cable is tiny, it feels cheap for the price, and it definitely runs hotter than it should. It is just not as good as expected for an official product. For your budget, you might want to look at the ESR Qi2 MagSafe Charger with Kickstand instead. It is cheaper and the cooling seems better, tho it is a bit bulkier than the slim pads. Another one I had issues with was the older Belkin pads, but the newer Belkin BoostCharge Pro Qi2 15W Magnetic Charger is finally decent. It is built like a tank compared to the Apple one. Just keep in mind that with your 60 dollar limit, buying the Belkin plus a good brick is gonna push it. Tbh, if you care about the battery health on your new 17 Pro, dont just buy the cheapest thing you see. Most of the stuff without proper heat dissipation is just gonna kill your battery capacity over time.
To add to the point above: I'm so stoked! Quick question tho, you gonna use a case? Alignment prevents heat loss on my Anker MagGo Magnetic Wireless Charger 15W Qi2 by keeping coils centered!
tbh that qi2 advice is spot on. just keep in mind that most of these magnetic pads dont actually come with the wall brick in the box anymore. if you use an old iphone+cube+it+wont+charge&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iphone cube it wont charge fast at all. definitely save about 15 or 20 bucks for a decent usb-c power adapter so you actually get those top speeds... otherwise you are just wasting your cash.
Ive been using MagSafe since it first launched and honestly you dont need to overthink it too much as long as you stick to the big names. Since you have a 60 dollar limit, you can actually get a really high-end setup if you skip the official Apple store.
Seconded!
