So I finally upgraded to the 17 Pro and I'm honestly stumped. I've been using Moment glass since the iPhone 11 days and usually the mount adapters work fine but this new sensor bump is huge and my old lenses are getting crazy vignetting. It's super annoying because I've got a trip to Tokyo in three weeks and I need a solid telephoto that actually works with the new 48MP sensor.

  • Budget: $300 max
  • Use case: street photography and close-up macro
  • Needs: Zero edge distortion and a mount that doesnt wiggle

Does anyone know if Sandmarc or ShiftCam have fixed the alignment issues for the 17 Pro yet? Im worried the sensor is just too big for the older glass designs.

Regarding what #1 said about "Be careful with that new sensor, its huge....", they are totally right! That 48MP sensor is an absolute beast and older glass just wont cut it anymore. I just went through this exact same headache and found a setup that works like a dream for high-res shots! Since youre heading to Tokyo in a few weeks, you definitely need a longer focal length for those narrow alleys and neon street shots. I am obsessed with the new T-Series glass because the mount interface is literally larger to handle the wider aperture of the 17 Pro lenses. Here is what I recommend to stay under budget:

  • Moment 75mm Tele Mobile Lens T-Series
  • This lens is fantastic for street photography! The compression you get is amazing and it feels super premium.
  • Moment 10x Macro Lens T-Series
  • For your close-up macro needs, this one has zero edge distortion which is vital when you are shooting at 48MP. Quick tip: Honestly, skip the universal clips and get the iPhone+17+Pro+with+T-Series+Mount&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Moment Case for iPhone 17 Pro with T-Series Mount. Its the only way to ensure the glass is perfectly centered over that massive sensor. If youre off by even a millimeter, youll see that annoying blur on the edges! Tokyo is gonna be incredible with this setup, have a blast!

Honestly, even the newer Sandmarc mounts still feel a bit flimsy to me. In my experience, if you want zero wiggle on the 17 Pro, you gotta go with a cage. The Beastgrip Pro Universal Cage is the only thing that handles that massive sensor bump properly.

  • Beastgrip 1.7X Telephoto Lens: huge glass, no vignetting.
  • Reeflex G-Series 75mm Long Range Macro: amazing for street macros. Its heavy for travel but worth it for the stability tho.

Be careful with that new sensor, its huge. I once brought gear that clipped the edges and it ruined my whole trip. For the 17 Pro, consider these:

  • ShiftCam LensUltra 10x Macro Lens Sandmarc has a more reliable mount, but ShiftCam macro glass is clearer. Just make sure to get the dedicated case, clips just wont cut it anymore tho.

I encountered those alignment issues too before I switched things up, tbh. My current setup is significantly more secure.

  • No sensor clipping
  • Rock solid mount I'm satisfied with the safety and results.

Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
