Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro. I am absolutely blown away by the new 48MP telephoto lens and the improved low-light performance on the main sensor. I've been a DSLR user for years, but I'm really trying to see if I can make this phone my primary camera for an upcoming landscape photography trip to the Pacific Northwest.

Since the hardware is so capable now, I want to make sure I have the right gear to really push it to the limit. I'm specifically looking for things that will help me with long exposures and better audio for some quick b-roll videos. I've heard mixed things about the new MagSafe filters and whether they actually stay on during rugged hikes. I really want to avoid any gear that adds too much bulk while still giving me that high-end feel.

I am looking for suggestions on a few specific things:

  • A super stable but lightweight tripod that works well with the new chassis size
  • Any high-quality ND filters that don't cause vignetting on the ultra-wide lens
  • A compact external microphone that doesn't require a bulky cage or adapter

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the options on Amazon and don't want to waste money on junk that will break after one use. What are the absolute must-have accessories you guys are using to get professional results with your 17 Pro?

I totally agree with the previous point about stability. If you are watching your budget after buying the 17 Pro, the Ulanzi MT-44 Extendable Tripod is a solid, cheap choice tbh. For glass, try the K&F Concept 67mm Variable ND Filter with a clip adapter. It avoids the vignetting issues on the ultra-wide lens that pricey magnetic systems often have. Also, the Boya BY-V20 Wireless USB-C Mic is surprisingly good for the money!

I totally agree that a clip-on adapter is better for peace of mind while hiking. For stability on the cheap, the Joby GorillaPod 3K Kit is great since you can wrap it around tree branches. Also, look at the Rode VideoMic Me-C USB-C Microphone for audio. It plugs directly into the port so you dont need a bulky setup or extra cables. Super simple and works great.
