Looking for a good silicone case for the iPhone 17 Pro. Any recommendations? Ideally something under $30.

Nice, didn't know that

ngl i spent way too much time looking at the shore a hardness ratings for my current setup because i wanted that perfect balance of grip and rigidity. what i learned the hard way with the one i got last year is that cheap silicone has terrible thermal conductivity. my phone was basically throttling during fast charging because the case was acting like a thermal blanket. plus the surface tension on those budget ones is a nightmare for lint. i eventually had to switch because the structural integrity around the charging port just gave out after about ten weeks of daily use. basically if you care about the thermals and long-term fit the material grade matters more than just finding something that looks the part. just something to think about if you are looking for actual performance and not just a color swap.

So, summarizing the thread: weve touched on TPU longevity, thermal throttling, and even 3D printing. My big concern for the 17 Pro is the button integration. If the rumors about capacitive buttons hold up, cheap silicone is gonna be a nightmare for haptic response. Quick tips:

  • Prioritize liquid silicone (LSR) over standard molded silicone for better dimensional stability and fit.
  • Check if the case has a specialized thin layer for the capture button area to avoid sensor interference. If you need a solid pick under $30, the iPhone+17+Pro&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">ESR Cloud Soft Case for iPhone 17 Pro usually hits that sweet spot of fitment and price. Just make sure the listing explicitly mentions the haptic button compatibility before you pull the trigger.

Gonna try this over the weekend. Will report back if it works!

Caudabe Sheath! I've been rocking it since '23. Slim, grippy, and protects like a champ!

iPhone 17 Pro cases are a gamble right now, TBH. Instead of specific silicone, I'd suggest a generic, cheap TPU case off Amazon. $10 max. Silicone degrades, yellows. TPU offers decent drop protection and is easily replaced. Once the 17 Pro is actually OUT, better options will appear. Don't overspend now on something that might not fit perfectly or last.

Silicone's porous. Consider TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) instead. Spigen makes decent ones under $20.

Skip silicone; impacts can shatter screens. Otterbox Defender: bulky, but saved my bacon countless times.

Regarding silicone cases, it's a saturated market. Brand reliability varies wildly. Apple's own case is decent, but overpriced. For <$30, consider Spigen. Their quality control is generally consistent, based on user reviews and failure rate data I've tracked over the years. It works for basic protection, but don't expect Otterbox-level durability.

Forget buying! Silicone's easy to mold. I made mine for $10 using a 3D printer and some online tutorials! Amazing custom fit!
