I just got the iPhone 16 Pro Max and I’m terrified of breaking it. I’m upgrading from an old iPhone 11 that has a completely shattered screen. I’m really clumsy and have no idea where to start with cases. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m totally lost with all the options. This phone is huge and the cameras stick out so much. I need something that actually protects it before I ruin it.

Here is what I need:

  • Really strong drop protection (I drop my phone a lot)
  • Not too bulky because the Pro Max is already massive
  • Specific protection for the camera lenses
  • Budget is around $50-$70
  • Must work with the magnet charging (MagSafe?)

I’m looking to buy something today because I don’t want to carry this around unprotected. My old phone’s screen was a mess and I can’t let that happen again. What brands are actually reliable for someone who breaks everything?

Regarding what #1 said about "This comes up a lot. Search the forum..." — honestly, I'd stay away from those $65 "premium" brands like Mous. Everyone recommends them but they're mostly just paying for marketing — I've had better luck with the Dbrand Grip Case iPhone 16 Pro Max. It’s actually grippy so you don't drop it to begin with — wait, and it's cheaper — plus the magnets are way stronger than the Spigen stuff people usually push.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I’m totally with you on the Dbrand—it’s solid—but man, this is exactly my thing! I’ve been nerding out over the UAG Monarch Pro MagSafe iPhone 16 Pro Max lately. It’s got five layers of protection—wait, no, it's definitely five—and that 25ft drop rating is perfect for clumsy folks. If that’s too bulky, the Caudabe Sheath MagSafe iPhone 16 Pro Max is surprisingly thin but uses ShockTer to survive anything. Anyway, both have massive camera bumpers.

This comes up a lot. Search the forum for the megathread, but the short answer is to prioritize impact-absorbing materials.

  • Mous Limitless 5.0 MagSafe iPhone 16 Pro Max ($65). Slim for its 15ft drop rating.
  • Spigen Tough Armor MagSafe iPhone 16 Pro Max ($45). Dual-layer build with a raised camera lip. Both fit your $50-$70 budget and have strong MagSafe magnets.
