Anyone got a lead on the best charging bricks and cables for the 17 Pro Max because Im honestly so anxious about the battery health on this unit? Ive been using high-end GaN blocks for years but the specs on this new one seem different and I dont wanna mess it up. Upgrading from a 12 Pro Max where the battery is basically dead by noon—seriously its a nightmare—so battery longevity is my top priority this time around. I mostly care about keeping the thermals low since the size and camera are perfect for my work, but I need fast top-offs. Should I stick with the official 30W or are there better PD 3.1 options that wont overheat the thing? kinda lost tbh...

> I mostly care about keeping the thermals low since the size and camera are perfect for my work, but I need fast top-offs. So funny you ask this — last summer I spent $40 on the official 30W charger and it reached 105 degrees during use. I switched to the Ugreen Nexode 30W GaN Charger for $18. It stays under 95 degrees while maintaining full speed on my current Pro Max. I also use the Baseus USB-C to USB-C 100W Cable for $7. High-end brands are rarely better for heat management.

Regarding what #2 said about "> I mostly care about keeping the thermals...", heat management is the primary factor for longevity. The discussion so far confirms that third-party GaN units from Anker or Ugreen run significantly cooler than the official 30W Apple brick. I have tested dozens of these—this is exactly my thing—and the efficiency curves on GaN III are superior. For budget-conscious setups, these are the best performers:

  • Voltme Revo 30W GaN Charger
  • Often priced at $14. It maintains a steady 27W output while remaining under 92 degrees.
  • Essager 100W USB-C Cable with LED Display
  • Costs $6. The built-in display allows you to monitor the charging curve and detect thermal throttling immediately. PD 3.1 is overkill for the iPhone 17 Pro Max charging limit. Stick to high-efficiency GaN III 30W options to save money and protect the battery.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max peaks at 27-29W, so PD 3.1 hardware is unnecessary and generates excess heat through unused overhead. Focus on high-density GaN units with active thermal monitoring to protect the battery cells.

  • Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W
  • Priced at $23. It uses ActiveShield 2.0 technology to monitor temperature 3 million times per day, ensuring the brick never exceeds safe operating limits.
  • Satechi 30W USB-C GaN Wall Charger
  • Costs $30. The internals are optimized for 27W sustained delivery and it runs approximately 15% cooler than the official Apple 30W brick under full load.
  • Nomad USB-C to USB-C Cable Kevlar 1.5m
  • Costs $35. The metal connector housings dissipate heat away from the phone's charging port more effectively than plastic or rubber alternatives. Maintain battery health by keeping the device out of cases while fast-charging to prevent thermal throttling.

ngl I spent way too much time on YouTube researching this because I'm lowkey terrified of my battery degrading — wait, it was actually a Reddit thread that convinced me. Heat is the main thing to watch so I've been sticking to these:

  • Anker 711 Nano II 30W
  • Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable tbh that brick is way better than the official one for keeping thermals down while still topping off fast.
