iPhone 17 Pro Max VR headset recommendations? Looking for something under $300. What works well?

ngl, since the 17 Pro Max is such a beast with that screen, you really need a headset that wont bottleneck the visuals. Here are two I have actually used:

  • Destek V5 VR Headset with Bluetooth Controller

Pros: This is basically the best phone-slot headset for big phones. It fits the Max dimensions easily and the face padding is actually comfy for long sessions. Cons: You are still limited by mobile VR apps, which kinda sucks compared to standalone stuff.

  • Pico 4 128GB White

Pros: If you can snag a deal or go used to keep it under $300, the performance is lightyears ahead. The pancake lenses make everything look super crisp compared to the Fresnel lenses in phone holders.
Cons: Setup takes a bit more effort than just sliding your phone in. Personally, I think the Destek is fine for casual movies, but the Pico is the way to go if you actually care about performance and clarity.

Same here!

iPhone 17 Pro Max VR... resolution's key. Meta Quest 3 (if it fits!) might push enough pixels.

Get the Meta Quest 3S, it is just under $300 right now.

Facebook's Quest 3S.

Hey! I grabbed a used Merge VR headset for around $20 on eBay. Works surprisingly well with my older iPhone. No complaints for the price! Does the job.

For VR, under $300? Consider a used Oculus Quest 2. Works well, no complaints. Just be careful.

VR's still kinda niche for phones, right? Meta Quest might work; I see them talked about a lot. Under $300 depends on finding a used Quest 2, maybe?

Heads-up on VR while driving, folks! Consider road safety first. Maybe try a cheaper Merge VR for under $50 to see if you even like it before splurging. No accidents on my watch!
