Hey everyone! I just finally got my hands on the iPhone 17 Pro, and while the stock camera system is absolutely incredible, I really want to take my mobile photography to the next level. I’ve been looking into lens attachments, but I’m a bit confused about which ones are actually compatible with the new sensor sizes and the updated mount design on this model.

I’m particularly interested in finding a high-quality anamorphic lens for that cinematic look, and maybe a solid macro lens for close-up nature shots. I’ve used Moment lenses in the past, but I’ve heard rumors that some older mounting plates might not align perfectly with the 17 Pro’s larger camera bump. I'm also curious if anyone has tried the new Sandmarc or Beastgrip setups yet. I have a budget of around $200-$300 to start building my kit, so I want to make sure I’m investing in glass that won't cause vignetting or lose sharpness at the edges.

Does anyone have experience with specific brands or mount adapters that work seamlessly with the iPhone 17 Pro's updated optics? I’d love to hear your recommendations or see any test shots you’ve taken!

yo congrats on the 17 Pro! i've been shooting with mine for a bit and honestly, the camera bump is LITERALLY a beast this year. i totally feel u on the mounting issues... i tried using my old plates and they were basically a total mess with the new optics. In my experience, if you want to avoid vignetting on those huge new sensors, you gotta go with the newer T-series or dedicated mounts.

Here's what I recommend:
* iPhone+17+Pro+Edition&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Sandmarc Anamorphic Lens - 1.55x iPhone 17 Pro Edition – basically the best cinematic look without the weird edge blur.
* Moment 10x Macro Lens (T-Series) – you'll need the iPhone+17+Pro+Case+with+T-Series+Interface&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Moment iPhone 17 Pro Case with T-Series Interface cuz the old ones just wont line up right.
* Beastgrip Pro Universal Rig – if you wanna go full pro and avoid mount headaches altogether.

tbh the Sandmarc setup is lowkey the best value for ur $300 budget. stays sharp even at the edges. gl!!

For your situation, I would suggest Reeflex G-Series 1.33x Anamorphic Lens. The glass is great, but you'll definately need a dedicated case cuz the 17 Pro bump is basically literal insanity... lol. For macro, check out ShiftCam 75mm Long Range Macro Lens to keep ur distance from subjects. Just use the iPhone+17+Pro&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">ShiftCam Camera Case for iPhone 17 Pro so it actually fits. Edge softness and vignetting are highkey a risk tho!!

Re: "Respectfully, I'd consider another option. After years of..."

  • I have to agree with the emphasis on a secure mounting system. Over the years, I've tried many setups and nothing ruins a shot faster than a lens that isnt perfectly centered over the sensor. With the 17 Pro's updated optics, even a millimeter of misalignment causes massive edge blur. In my experience, comparing the top brands comes down to the mounting integrity. Here's what I've found works best for that budget:
  • Freewell Sherpa Series 1.55x Anamorphic Lens Gold is incredibly reliable. The proprietary mount feels more secure than most bayonet styles I've tested.
  • SmallRig 75mm Macro Lens for Mobile Phone Cages is a fantastic alternative for nature shots because the build quality is top notch.
  • Apexel HD 100mm Macro Lens works well if you want a longer focal length to avoid casting shadows on your subject. Quick tip: skip the universal clips entirely. For these heavy lenses, you need a dedicated case with a threaded mount to keep the glass parallel to the sensor. It's the only way to get the sharpness you're paying for and you wont regret the extra stability.

For your situation, I’ve been looking into the specs and honestly, the 17 Pro sensor is a technical beast. The image circle requirements have totally shifted this year, so ur concern about vignetting is 100% valid! I’m pretty satisfied with how my current glass handles the 48MP output, but before you spend that $300, I gotta ask a couple things to narrow it down:

* Are you looking for a system that needs a dedicated mounting case, or do you prefer a universal rig setup that handles the increased depth of the camera bump?
* Do you need the anamorphic lens to have a specific squeeze factor, like 1.33x or 1.55x, for ur projects?

It literally makes a huge difference in the rear element diameter needed to keep things sharp at the edges. Let me know!!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option. After years of shooting, I think PolarPro 1.55x Blue Anamorphic Lens - LiteChaser Pro Series is way safer for ur sensor than magnetic plates... safety first!
