I just upgraded to the Pixel 8 Pro and quickly realized my old power bricks aren't cutting it. Since it doesn't come with one in the box, I'm looking for a solid fast charger that can actually hit that 30W peak speed.

I'm a bit confused by the different standards like USB-PD and PPS, and I want to make sure I buy something that won't just charge at a snail's pace. I've been looking at some Anker options and the official Google brick, but I'd prefer something compact for my commute.

Does anyone have a specific charger they're using that works perfectly with the 8 Pro? Any favorite brands or models that support the PPS protocol?

yo, ive been using pixels for years and honestly, official bricks are kinda overpriced lol. for your 8 pro, you gotta make sure the charger supports pps or itll charge at a snails pace, i guess. I would suggest the Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W USB C GaN Charger. its super compact and usually under $20 on sale. stay cautious with cheap no-name brands tho... gl!

Sooo, i've been testing a few of these cuz i'm obsessed with charging speeds lol. basically, if it doesnt have PPS, ur gonna be waiting forever. honestly, i tried the Google 30W USB-C Power Charger first and was kinda disappointed. it's just so big and clunky for my bag?? not great for commuting. instead, i'd look at these two:

  • Ugreen Nexode 30W USB C GaN Charger: this thing is SO small. it hits the full 30W speed and fits in a pocket. my only issue was the build quality felt a bit plastic-y compared to anker, but it works.
  • Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN Wall Charger: i love this one cuz it's still compact but handles 45W, which is nice if you have other gear. idk if you wanna spend the extra cash, but definitely skip the generic non-PPS bricks. they're basically useless for the pixel 8 pro. gl!

Actually, PPS is basically a tech that lets ur phone tell the charger EXACTLY how much power it needs. It matters cuz it keeps heat down, and heat is the biggest enemy of battery life... seriously. Ngl, I bought a random cheap brick once and it got so hot I almost panicked lol. Be careful! Check out the ChargerLAB website for technical tests. My current setup is just a basic, reliable GaN brick I got on sale. gl!
