Hey all! Hunting for Pixel Fold deals this Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Anyone seen any good discounts pop up yet? My budget's around $1200. Thanks!

Basically, I'm with the people saying to shop around, but if you're a power user, you really need to look at the actual hardware benchmarks before dropping $1200. The Tensor G2 in the original Fold is great for AI features, but its thermal management under heavy multi-tasking isn't the best compared to newer silicon. If performance is your main metric, here is what I'd look for this week: * OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Open: Check for Black Friday sales on this one. It runs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which significantly out-performs the Pixel Fold in sustained multi-core loads and has better power efficiency.
* Google Pixel Fold Carrier Deals: If you aren't tied to an unlocked model, providers like Verizon or AT&T often hit that $1200 mark (or much lower) via bill credits if you have a decent trade-in.
* Best Buy Open-Box: Look for 'Excellent' or 'Geek Squad Certified' units. People often return foldables within 14 days because they can't get used to the form factor, so you get basically brand-new hardware that passes all diagnostic stress tests for way less. Honestly, just keep an eye on the UFS 3.1 read/write speeds too, because that's what makes the UI feel snappy long-term. Not 100% sure if the Fold will hit exactly $1200 unlocked this year, but it'll be close! lol

I'm with you on the hardware side, but don't overlook the technical compatibility hurdles!!! For $1200, you don't want a device that can't even scale your favorite apps correctly, right? * **UI Scaling and Aspect Ratios:** A lot of people forget that many apps aren't optimized for these non-standard resolutions. You'll get weird fitment issues where the UI just breaks or stays letterboxed. It's a massive pain for power users because it breaks the workflow.
* **Standardized Protocols:** You have to be careful with things like stylus support and charging. If the hardware doesn't support the specific digitizer standards or the right USB-C PD profiles, your expensive accessories basically become paperweights. * **Physical Fitment:** The tolerances on foldable hinges are so tight that any third-party screen protection or cases can cause real issues if they aren't manufactured to exact industry specs. One millimeter off and you're risking the panel. Honestly, just get any of the folding tech from Google or Samsung. You can't go wrong with their ecosystem stuff because they actually set the standards for the software side, you know? Tbh, sticking to the big brands is the only way to ensure your apps actually fit the screen.

I'm totally with you on the compatibility concerns, especially with how apps look. It's realy easy to get blinded by the shiny new tech and forget about the day-to-day bugs, you know? I've been there with a similar device and it definitely taught me to be more cautious. - My first experience with this type of screen was stressful tbh. I was always worried about dust getting under the display, and eventually, I noticed a tiny bump that drove me crazy.
- I found myself constanty checking forums to see if other people had the same issues with the folding mechanism. It feels like you're part of a giant beta test group sometimes!!!
- The learning curve for the UI was steeper than I expected. Some apps just wouldn't behave, and I ended up going back to my old slab phone for work stuff because it was just more reliable. Definitely worth looking at what the long-term owners are saying before you spend that much money, right?

Skip the Fold. I switched to a used Galaxy Z Fold 3 last year. Paid $700, and it's been solid. Software updates still rolling.

Instead of a new phone, consider a quality OBD2 scanner. It's a far better investment for your car in my experience. Think about brands like Autel. I've tried many over the years and it is a very reliable option. Just a thought!

Fold + driving? Be careful. Distraction is deadly. Consider a safer, non-screen alternative.

Forget the Fold, check Samsung's Z Fold series. Market analysis suggests better post-holiday deals around January. Refurbished Z Fold 4s dip below $1100.

Refurbished might be your best bet! Save hundreds, plus get a warranty. Check Swappa!

Instead of a new phone, consider a DIY dashcam install. Thinkware's a solid brand. Might save you enough to wait for a better Fold deal later. Be careful with wiring though, I'd suggest professional install if unsure.
