Best gimbal for smooth video with my Pixel phone? Looking to spend around $150. Any recommendations?

Tbh, I kinda disagree that the popular brands are always the best fit for Pixels, especially if you're using a Pro model with a heavy case. I've been digging into the specs lately and honestly, the Hohem iSteady M6 is a total beast for long-term use because it handles way more weight. So basically, my quick tip is to always check the *payload capacity* before you buy... I learned that the hard way when my motors started vibrating and got super hot after a month of use lol. Does the Pixel 8 Pro weigh more than the 7? Anyway, just make sure the motor can actually handle the phone *plus* your case so it doesn't burn out early. It's kinda technical but it really makes a difference for how long the thing lasts!

Honestly, one thing people ALWAYS forget to check is how the gimbal software actually plays with the Pixels native camera features. A lot of these gimbals claim to have all these cool tracking features and shortcut buttons, but half the time they only work if you use THEIR specific app. The problem is that third-party apps usually cant access the full power of the Google HDR processing or 4K 60fps stabilization that makes the Pixel so good in the first place. You end up with smooth movement but CRAP image quality because youre not using the native camera app. Also, keep an eye on how the gimbal handles heat during real-world testing. If youre out shooting for an hour in the sun, your Pixel is gonna get hot and the gimbal motors have to work harder to keep things steady as the phones internal sensors might start throttling. Ive seen gimbals just give up and go limp mid-shot because of thermal issues. My advice is to skip the fancy app features and just make sure whatever you buy lets you use the stock Google Camera app easily without the gimbal arm blocking the ultra-wide lens. Thats a huge pain that basically ruins the performance if you ask me.

DJI Osmo Mobile SE works well for me. No complaints after a year of use.

Pixel's OIS is decent, but a gimbal helps, especially when moving. Cheaper gimbals can sometimes induce motor noise in audio, so test that! Zhiyun Smooth 5S is an option. However, consider if your phone's software stabilization *plus* careful technique might be enough. Over-correcting with a gimbal can look worse than natural movement. Experiment before buying!

Before dropping $150, consider a cheap phone tripod first. Seriously. I've used a $20 one for years. Works well enough for static shots. If you *need* a gimbal, Moza Mini-S is often on sale under $80. Save the rest for gas! No complaints so far.

DJI's market dominance is real, but honestly, I've had issues with their app crashing. Zhiyun's Smooth series are contenders. Do your research before you buy!

DJI's fine, but secure your phone TIGHT! $100 drop = broken screen. Ugh!
