Top recommended fast chargers and cables for Google Pixel 8 Pro?

I just picked up a Pixel 8 Pro, but my old USB-A bricks are barely charging it. I know it needs a PPS-compatible charger for the full 30W speed, but there are so many options. Does anyone recommend specific GaN chargers or durable 6ft cables that work perfectly? What are your go-to setups?

> What are your go-to setups? Pro tip: Check out camelcamelcamel to track prices cuz it saves me sooo much money lol. Honestly, u dont need to overspend. I've tried many setups over the years, and the UGREEN Nexode 30W GaN Charger is the best value. It's usually under $16 and hits PPS perfectly. Also, grab the UGREEN 6ft USB C to USB C Cable 100W 2-Pack for like $10. Way cheaper than buying singles. gl!

oh man, I totally feel u on this. When I first got my Pixel 8 Pro, I thought I could just use my old laptop brick and call it a day, but it took foreverrr to charge. Like, literally hours. I learned the hard way that these Pixels are super picky about the whole PPS thing and wont just take any high-wattage plug. For your situation, I would suggest looking at the Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W. I actually use the Anker 711 Charger Nano II 30W which is a GaN brick and it is tiny as heck. Seriously, it is basically the size of a grape but handles the full 30W speed perfectly because it supports the PPS protocol. If you dont see PPS mentioned on the box or listing, stay away cuz it will probably just slow charge your phone at like 10W or 15W. For cables, I highkey recommend the Anker 643 USB-C to USB-C Cable Flow 6ft. It is honestly the softest cable I have ever used but it is super durable. If you want something that feels a bit more rugged, the Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable Bio-Braided 6ft is a solid choice too and holds up reallyy well over time. So basically, the big lesson is that you gotta verify it says PPS 3.0 on the listing. A lot of chargers claim to be fast but dont actually play nice with Google hardware. Just make sure to check the fine print so ur not wasting money... anyway, GaN is definitely the way to go for heat management. gl!

Jumping in here... Curious: do you need multiple ports? Safety-wise, the Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W Wall Charger plus a Belkin BoostCharge USB-C to USB-C Cable 2M is basically bulletproof.

^ This. Also, been catching up on the thread and honestly, if you're into checking the actual power curves like I am, the Satechi 30W USB-C GaN Wall Charger is a beast for thermal management. I've hooked it up to my tester and it holds the PPS rails very steady without getting hot. Another solid pick is the Baseus 30W GaN5 Fast Charger. Its tiny but packs the same punch. Tbh the Baseus runs a bit warmer than the Satechi under load, but its way easier to toss in a pocket for travel. If you really wanna go the DIY route for testing your setup, grab a MakerHawk USB C Tester to see if youre actually hitting that 30W peak. Most people dont realize the phone throttles speed pretty fast once it hits 50% battery anyway, so dont panic if you see the numbers drop. Both of these are solid alternatives if you want something different than the usual stuff. Let me know if u want the specific voltage data for either of these.

I went through this last year. Basically, you gotta understand that these newer Pixels use a specific part of the Power Delivery standard called PPS. It matters because it lets the charger talk to the phone to adjust voltage on the fly, which keeps the heat down during the handshake. Since heat is the absolute killer for battery health, I've always been super cautious about what I plug my expensive tech into. I did a deep dive into the specs when I got mine cuz I didnt want to fry anything or degrade the cell prematurely. Honestly, I'm very satisfied just sticking with chargers from Google or Belkin. You really cant go wrong with those brands as they follow the USB-IF specs perfectly. For the cables, I just picked up some long ones from UGREEN and they've been great. Works well and I have no complaints at all. Just look for the PPS label on the box and youll be golden. peace

Honestly, I have a slightly different take. While the brands mentioned so far are usually solid, I think I heard somewhere that the official Google chargers are actually better tuned for the Pixels specific thermal curves. IIRC, the handshake protocol on the official ones is a bit more conservative to protect the battery long-term. Not sure if thats 100% confirmed by tech teardowns yet, but if youre planning on keeping this phone for several years, sticking with the official Google gear might be the safer bet over the long haul. Some of these other brands are great for value, but im always a little wary about how they handle heat compared to the first-party stuff. Basically, sometimes the official route is just less of a headache.
