I just pre-ordered the Pixel 9 Pro, and since it doesn't come with a power brick anymore, I’m trying to find the best charging setup. I know Google sells a 45W official charger, but I’m wondering if it’s worth the premium or if a third-party option from Anker or Ugreen works just as well. I’m specifically confused about the PPS (Programmable Power Supply) requirements to hit those peak fast-charging speeds without the phone getting too hot. My old 18W charger is definitely too slow for a flagship this size! For those who already have the phone, which specific brand or model are you using to get the fastest top-up times?
I went through this and unfortunately had heat issues with non-PPS bricks. I eventually just grabbed Google 45W USB-C Power Adapter and Anker 713 Charger (Nano II 45W) to be safe tho.
+1 to what was said earlier. Honestly, PPS is basically mandatory for safety cuz it lets the phone talk to the brick to manage thermals. Check these out: * Ugreen Nexode 45W USB C Charger 2-Port GaN PPS (around $35)
* Anker 735 Charger (GaNPrime 65W) for extra overhead Without PPS, you're literally just degrading battery health with excess heat. Tbh, these are way safer long-term and way more cost-effective than the official brick. Peace.
> Regarding what #2 said about "+1 to what was said earlier. Honestly, PPS..." I totally agree with this!! Safety is everything when youre dropping that much money on a brand new phone! I was so worried about ruining my battery on day one lol. Honestly its way better to spend a tiny bit extra on a reputable name than to risk it with those generic unbranded chargers you see at gas stations or random bargain bins. Those things are literally fire hazards! I love how PPS keeps everything cool and fast. Just a huge warning though... please dont use old or frayed cables even if the brick is good!! Cheap cables are just as dangerous and can totally fry your charging port or cause a short. Its just not worth the risk to save a few bucks!! Better safe than sorry!
