So I just picked up the Edge 60 Pro and man this 125w charging is insane when it actually works. I've been a Moto guy for years so I'm used to the TurboPower stuff but this new one is way pickier than my old Edge 30. My dog actually chewed through the original cable (rip) and now I'm struggling to find a replacement that actually triggers the TurboPower 125 message on the lock screen.

I tried a generic 100w PD brick I had for my MacBook but it only seems to pull like 30w tops according to my inline meter. I know about PPS and E-mark cables but I'm getting mixed results looking at Amazon listings for what actually works with Moto's proprietary handshake. Usually I'm pretty good at troubleshooting this stuff but the 60 Pro seems way more sensitive to the voltage steps than I expected. Seems like if it doesnt see the exact right protocol it just defaults to slow charging.

I'm in Chicago and need something by Friday before a road trip so I can't really wait for shipping from overseas. Budget is around 50 or 60 bucks for a set. I've been looking at:

Are there any specific third-party brands that actually hit the full speeds or do I have to suck it up and pay the premium for another official Motorola block? Also what cables are you guys using that don't bottleneck the power draw?

Tbh getting the full 125W on anything but the official brick is a headache because of how Moto handles PPS steps. If you're on a budget and need it by Friday, these usually get the job done for me without breaking the bank:

  • UGREEN Nexode 100W USB C Wall Charger
  • This one is pretty reliable for PPS and usually sits right in your budget. It hits decent speeds without getting too hot during long sessions.
  • Anker 765 USB C to USB C Cable 140W
  • This cable is a bit beefy but the E-marker chip is solid. It wont bottleneck like those generic ones you find at the drugstore. I've noticed that if the voltage steps aren't exactly what the 60 Pro wants, it just sits at standard PD speeds. Using a 100W rated cable is basically mandatory. You might only see 80 or 90W on the meter with third-party gear, but it beats waiting hours for a charge. Just make sure the cable specifically says it supports 5A.

Man, that sucks about the cable. Honestly, Motorola is super annoying with their proprietary handshake for the 125W speeds. Most third-party stuff wont actually hit that full 125W mark because it needs a specific high-amperage config that standard Power Delivery chargers just dont carry. I tried using my Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W and while its a beast, it usually tops out way lower on my Moto because of the PPS limitations. If you want the actual TurboPower 125 message, you basically have to get the Motorola+TurboPower+125W+Wall+Charger&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Motorola TurboPower 125W Wall Charger. For the cable, you definitely need a 6A rated one. I use the Ugreen 100W USB C Cable 5A for my other gear but even that is hit or miss with Motos max speeds. Since youre in Chicago and in a rush, maybe check Best Buy for the official brick? Its pricey but avoids the headache of slow charging on your trip.
